Default 396ci Forged LT1

Hey guys, so just trying to get a ballpark guess from everyone.. Lets figure some basics right now..

396ci LT1
Scat and Callies forged internals
9:1 or 9.5:1 compression
Dished pistons
Trick Flow heads
Single Plane (or something else close to it)
88mm turbo

Lets say 30lbs of boost... How much hp do you think it would make?

Ya had me until 88mm turbo @ 30psi... I think a powder keg has a better chance of staying together.

I wasn't meaning that was going to be the exact setup, it was just a random idea I was throwing out lol.

Two atmospheres of air being force fed into a 396ci motor by a colossal turbo... Are you building a bomb? These aren't little Hondas.

Knock it down to 383 and 20lbs. of boost and then maybe a reasonable discussion can start.

I'll say this now: I am not building this lol, it was just a random thought that crossed my mind. I'd rather not run a 383.. It'll probably be 392-396 range.. more than likely a 76mm.

That's if I don't go turbo LS, but the LT is still in the car, debating if I want to go forged LT with a turbo or turbo LS

If it's just a random thought that crossed your mind, and your not actually building it, why not give it 100 lbs of hypothetical boost! Compound turbos! LOL! What's wrong with 383's anyways?

Eh, just seems like every LT turbo guy has a 383! Lol, just trying to be a bit different with this build and see what I can accomplish.

There's a reason for that...

It would definetely make north of 1000 HP....for five minutes.

Well yeah, it's not weakening the block as much with the thinner cylinder walls. Lol. My main goal, LS or LT, is to get the car into the 4's. LS would get me there a lot quicker, I know that, but I'm also trying to figure out what it would take with an LT. I'm not sure how Stefan has managed to go 4's with a big ProCharger and a 402ci LT lol.

The car is so light that even 15lbs would make it fly. 30lbs would be overkill, it'd probably get an average of 20-23lbs depending on track conditions.

No. I really don't think you can.

Any 75mm turbine will be screaming well before 30psi on a 396ci motor with halfway decent heads. You will be fighting scorching EGTs and more than likely melted heads.

But hey, we can all make pipe dreams on LS1tech.

No I just came to LS1Tech cause I got tired of know it alls on LTXTech, including yourself, and was originally, and still am, planning to put a turbo LS in the car. I do not want, nor do I need your help. I asked for the thoughts on it, not whether or not I can do it.

And you got thoughts on it... completely ludicrous.

Cut the boost in half, smaller turbo, and destroke it if you want to enjoy a moneypit of a motor for more than a few dyno pulls.
