Yeah, a lot of guys just bash the Flowmaster because it's a mainstream thing- a lot of people who don't know anything about cars just go with a Flowmaster because of the name brand.

However, it is true that they flow probably the most poorly out of all aftermarket catbacks, but when you consider that this is all within around 3-5 RWHP loss, who really cares? It's pretty obvious that the Flowmaster sounds great. If you really want those extra horses that the Flowmaster is robbing you of, just install a cut-out. No use replacing the entire catback for nothing.

The only reason I wouldn't put a Flowmaster on my car is the same reason I wouldn't use a Hooker catback- they're both aluminized. With the rough city winters comes lots of salt, and the salt from the past winter (which totally sucked *** ) did a job on my sister's Flowmaster catback on her V-6. I'm currently running a stainless steel Borla, but that's only because it came on the car. I'd probably go with a Magnaflow if I was strapped for cash, or a GMMG. They're my two favorites.

So don't feel bad about the Flowmaster. It's not as much of a piece of trash as everybody says it is. And in the grand scheme of things, the way your car sounds will be a lot more important than those 5 RWHP- especially after you start doing the big things like cam and heads swaps.

Im with enisguy on this. I have a series 80 and it sounds AWESOME, a bit loud (i may get a stock muffler just to keep it down a little.) Unless your trying to squeeze every last ounce of power out, dont worry about your flow. If it sounds good to you, keep it.

Yes. A lot of people over-analyze catbacks, intakes, and lids. Aside from make quality, a catback is a catback is a catback. They all flow within the same area, so pick which one sounds best.

I love my flowmaster, even though i wouldve rather had a borla, i didnt think it was worth over double the cost of the flowmaster. It also gives that nice deep throaty sound, borla from what ive noticed is a little higher pitched. just my obsercations

I also have a truck for the winter, so the aluminized exhaust isnt an issue, but i do hear ya enis, this winter was one of the worst. U drive ur z in the snow? if so i give u credit, although, the winters where i am are a little worse than down there by the city. Snow wise that is.

Not in the snow, but afterwards there's a lot of salt all over the roads. It's not the snow that kills the aluminized steel, it's the salt.

LPE 211 cam. but itll idle like stock. so if you want a lope youll need more. its a good torquey cam. but for your goals of 340 your prolly gonna want more. the other cams mentioned are good. a 211 cam will get you in the 12s if your at a good track and can drive resonably well, but you may not make the 340 mark.
