Default Stearing knuckle or rag joint

On the lt1 cars there's a rubber joint in the steering knuckle they get loose and get a lot of play in them I can't find the part for the 93 to 97 but I see some for the real old camaros 70s .... what are you guys doing to correct this. I seen a solid one but not sure how that would feel

The solid piece is absolutely fine. Not a huge difference but still better than some piec of rubber. I had the rag joint eliminator. I recently switched to the ls1 style steering shaft. I noticed no difference between the two. It's a good upgrade though.

Thought that it would make your steering wheel off by 90 degrees.

I just went to autozone and bought the closest thing I could find. Worked great. I'd have gone with the solid eliminator, but I'm cheap.

For the ls1 shaft to work with the lt1 rack/pinion you need to re clock the shaft for it to work so your steering wheel isn't off. or buy a ls1 steering rack.

How hard is it to install the LS1 steering rack? I have a LT1 and LS1 camaro and the LS1 has way better steering.

It's pretty easy on an LT1. Just two bolts hold it to the k member. 2 lines for the power steering and the two tie rod ends. Maybe an hour from start to finish.

I agree....BUT....you might have to jack the engine up, in order to get the one bolt out, that holds the rack in place. GM inserts the bolt into the K-member before the engine is in place, and once the engine is in, it's my understanding the there isn't enough room to remove the bolt.

I used the 'Unbalanced Engineering' rag joint eliminator. I was happy with it.

Only ls1 guys have that issue with the bolt under the engine like that. Just how the oil pan is on those cars. Lt1 engines, it's not an issue.

Just to clarify, the rubber you refer to is part of the steering shaft (7) -not the knuckle (8), which is a solid piece of metal.
