Elec WP swap, PROBLEM... So its only like 32* and dark out but thats besides the point I figured I would get a start on pulling junk out to do waterpump and opti swap. Anyway waterpump is out and everysingle bolt but one has the head snapped off in the front cover..... Can I take this to a machine shop and have them tapped out or can I tap them out, or am I beat and I need to go find a new housing????...
do you mean a new timing cover? the holes are not threaded on the cover. if the bolt heads are snapped off just pry the cover off the block. make sure you have dropped the oil pan so the bottom/inside lip of the timing cover will clear the pan.

you can drill/tap your old housing. Would be faster/easier if you have a drill press so the holes are straight. Get any SAE or Metric tap that is slightly larger than what is there
and buy the appropriate size replacement bolts
or go harvest a WP from the junkyard and hope you have better luck removing the plate bolts on that
or buy what the one post has
or go buy a fing WP at parts store and bite the $ bullet on either just putting the mechanical back in or use the "new" WP as the donor hosing for the EWP

Get this. Just remember to drill deeper than you think it needs for the extractor to sit in the hole. Be patient with it so you don't break the extractor on the hole. A #1 after a #40 drill bit should do the trick, if not, step up to a #2 with a #30 drill bit.

If there's enough of the shank sticking out, you can try heavily soaking the bolts in PB Blaster and wrenching them out with vise grips. If you're pressed for time, a machine shop should be able to get them out, possibly without needing larger bolts. I had a shop that was able to extract 3 snapped bolts in a cylinder head without needing to drill and tap them.

Or if there is enough shank sticking out you could weld a nut on what's left and turn it out after an all night soak in PB.
Or you could opt to saw them off as this may give you a better surface for a ***** punch to center. Drill them out at the same size as the original bolt. Then use a SS Heli-Coil and use some original sized bolts.
