Default AFR 190 Street Heads

A little while ago i made a post i was trhinbking about buying a LE2 combo for my car, anyway came across a really good deal on these heads ready to be bolted on. I am plkanning on going with the CC503 cam. The valvesprings that are on the heads now are AFR 8020's, will these springs work with a 1.6 RR?

I would have ai or le grind you a cam.

Nothing wrong with that cam but having one spec'd out for what you are trying to do, will probably suit you better.

I doubt a set of as cast pre Eliminators with a 190cc intake are worth your time. I would rather use LE2s with a custom grind.

Lloyd can always port the 190's, they still have dune benefits with the thicker deck surface, decent port design and I imagine that there's more than enough meat in there for Lloyd to do something amazing.

Living on the east coast of Canada, and the dollar not doing so hot it would cost me a small fortune to send these heads to Lloyd Elloit. I can't see how AFR heads are no good yes i agree LE2 is a amazing combo and you can make some good h/p, but AFR, flows pretty good to.

Out of the box 190s are nothing stellar, but will get the job done on a mild combo. If you can get them cheap, go for it. Definitely have a custom cam spec'd though, its almost the same price and will be closer to what you want assuming you give the right info.

Eventually I'm sure you can find someone trustworthy local to port them for less then sending them out.

The pre eliminator AFR heads are just like any other big name out the box heads..The eliminator heads are more equivalent to or better than ported stock heads DEPENDING on the size of the AFR's...

Those AFRs flow around 255/175. They have very good low lift #s but choke up top. I just got my AFRs back from Lloyd. Haven't had it to the track but the difference is night and day. The power comes on strong from 2k to redline. He ported my 180 AFRs and they ended up at 210cc. I kept the stock valve sizes.

No problem. The port work was excellent and he really opened up the intake ports along with the exhaust. He told me the cross sectional areas on the smaller AFRs are one of the major drawbacks. Well, that and the inflated flow #s they post. AFR seems to flow their heads on a 4.060 with a pipe. On Lloyds flow bench they were 11cfm less on the intake as advertised. After porting, I pick up 43cfm intake and 30cfm on the exhaust. All of that on the stock 2.02/1.60 valves.

Don't hold your breath for those track #s though. Winter is really starting to kick in here in Maryland. Hoping to get to a dyno in the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know.

I would love to send the heads to Lloyd, with the currency not worth it now. What i paid for the heads was a steal and they are ready to bolton the car. I will find somebody to port them here locally just got to ask the right people. We have a 1/8 mile track now so coming out of the hole is what is important now.

43cfm int/30cfm exh is a massive gain, they must really rip now.

Every flow bench is different so shouldn't be compared to others, but before and after numbers like that are a lot more useful for comparison. FWIW my machine shop flowed my heads after milling them and got almost 15cfm less then GTP's flowbench did. I know milling hurt the numbers a bit, but not that much.

Doesn't matter what one bench says over the other as long as they run the number .

What is everybody's thoughts on the 280XFI HR13 Cam? I picked this cam up bran new still in box never used for 200 bucks, i could not pass it up. With the AFR 190 heads and this cam i am hoping for some good results. I still have to get a few more parts before i install anything.

Big cam for a 350ci engine. (230*/236* Duration, w/113* LSA)

That fact that you have a higher-than-stock torque converter is a good thing....but you may need more gear than you're running right now; I'd say at least 3.42's or so.....

Running a 3.23 gear is fine. Just need to get the rpms up some other way. Which the 3200 converter should do if it's built right. I stayed with my 3.23 gear bc I loved the highway cruise rpm. Best ever 60 ft time was a 1.58 but your going to need the suspension and tires to pull it off.
