You might want to send him a PM.....at least that will alert him to your question. As it is, there's no telling when he'll come on the forum again or if he'll come to this thread to see your question.

Now.....that having been said, my TorqHead goes on my Impalaalong with a dyno-tune THIS week!

I'll let you know how it turns out!!

Sounds good. I'm just wanting some feedback from people with this that have had this installed for a little while of DD use.

Well.....my car won't be a daily driver (398ci solid roller), but I'll be driving and racing it enough over the next 6 months to have a real good idea how it acts.

My installer/tuner just did a TorqHead on another Impala (week before last) and he's VERY impressed with how it turned out.....install/tune/drivability were all easier/better than he'd anticipated before the kit arrived. He was also impressed with the components in the kit.

More info can be found via TorqHead's wed site, and their Face Book page --> https://www.facebook.com/pages/TorqH...23802061195083

Sounds good. Reliability is big for me. I have a 96/97 timing cover already so I can go EFI Conn 24X route if needed or go with the TH setup.

Time will tell lol

The bonus with TorqHead is that you can get EVERYTHING you need in one shot.

Also, you can have items deleted from your kit (with a credit on the price) if you already have matching parts. Me? I already had a set of NIB coils, so that saved me a few bills.

Additionally, the TorqHead supplied ECU comes with a base tune; so you'll be able to drive the car until you can arrange for something that'll better match your setup.

From a reliability standpoint.....I can't see where this would be less reliable than the EFI.

I say "I know....it is an LS1 computer, but they don't bother reading about the Torqhead system!!!!. What did you all do? Any good place in Virginia? Do I get a lab top and try to tune myself?

Most tuners freak when they hear the LT1 name. Unless you are getting a dyno tune they try to cheat by using a file already downloaded with a similar combo. An engine is nothing but an air pump(fuel, air, spark) so the experienced tuner can work those parameters.

Awesome, so they should be able to tune it. But make sure they do a Dyno tune correct?

Thank you

Thats exactly what i would do if i were in your position. I have a slight edge cause my tuner lives by me and is down to tune on the fly. As soon as i get my Tqhead system together he is down to tune.

Go to the shop with reference material in hand and explain to them what you did. Yes it's a LS ignition system, but it's not a LS motor. The approach will be different to tune a LS vs an LT.

The base tune from TH will get it close to run and drive it on the dyno but by no means would I drive it far distances. Install it, make sure the car isles/runs then bring it to the shop. Also to avoid downtime on the dyno, see if you can plug a code reader into the OBDII port. My car would run and drive fine but I forgot to switch the one wire in the back of my OBD1.5 port for my tuners laptop to connect. 20min later all was well but the tuner is a friend of mine doing it after hours so it wasn't an issue.

Make sure they do a street tune, too. On the dyno is cool, too.....but a dyno does not replicate street driving conditions.

And yes.....if a shop can tune a LS computer, then they should NOT have a problem with tuning the TorqHead kit.

All they have to do is tune it as an LT, but most see the LS and use LS parameters, this is very low timing compared to an LT, this is where some get confused,

Did you custom make the ignition coil brackets? They look nice! If you did not make them, did they come with the kit?

Has anyone gotten any feedback on when Torq Head's 24x system will be available for 92 and 93 Vettes that run the outdated OBD-I?

Default LT-1 Front Cover with CS location

Hi WS, I manufacture a OPTI that has the 24xe/58x/360 pulse train pattern. (your choice)

I manufacture a 24 OR 58x tooth TW that fits UNDER the late LT-1 Front cover AND uses the OEM sensor.

I manufacture a 6+1 TW for the GM OBD-1 PCM used on the USPS LLV.
I manufacture the MemCal for the GM OBD-I PCM.

I have done so for years, I have no report from Torque Head about what you ask.

I would suggest calling them and asking about this kit in the link. It doesn't appear to be their complete conversion kit but it apparently will work on the '92s and '93s......
