you can adjust how much timing can be removed by knock events in either a certain rpm range at wot or a certain map range at cruise
you can also adjust how quickly it's removed, and how quickly it's added back in afterwards.

I bought the KM in 2007 when the idea was all the rage among my fellow Impala SS racers, and after some time realizing I was not going to be doing any more drag racing due to some life changes that precluded me from doing things like camming and RRing my Impala SS, I never put it in.
I really didn't think about it that I had these things laying around all these years that the KM would be of particular interest to fellow enthusiasts until a respected member of this forum who helped me recover from a ECM bricking incident suggested it would pay for the junkyard ECM. The best people haunt these forums!
since 1995, I still have the car! Still about bone stock except for Borla which is where it will stay once I figure out the fuel maps that have long been lean.
