If anyone watches that horrible British car flipping show they one time used rattle can paint on a cargo area carpet and it came out awesome (on tv). Could try painting or dying the carpet dark as well and maybe the contrast of the carpet vs dash vs console won't be so obvious since dark carpet will make the interior darker. Car looks great, the plastics came out awesome. Good job saving another bird. It's amazing how few clean LT1s are left, when they got cheap so many teenagers and college kids got their hands on them and all are just beaten to hell now.

That would be an idea to think about. Basically everything else is light gray in the car plastic wide including the seats. When I get it in there if I hate it I'll go from there. Lol

Hey guys haven't worked much the past couple of weeks. I've had a lot of stuff going on. The inside is getting close to being finished. I got the back seats reconditioned and feeling much better. I also switched CD players again lol. I have the front seats at home now to clean and condition them as well. I'm also about to finish up the tail lights and I'll have some good pictures of all of that.

On tap for next weekend is to strip my parts car of everything I need, finish up 100% of the inside, and fix my coolant leak. If all goes well I'll have a transmission in the car by mid May is the plan.

Finished up the tail lights today.

These were the lights untouched from the car

I heated them apart to clean the insides

Then I painted the insides to make them have equal reflection and not have the lighter/darker issue.

I siliconed them back together and let them set for a couple of days. Then I hit them with some 800 grit before painting.

I had Brent send me his overlay kit and I applied them.

I decided to use duplicator semi gloss and I hit them with two coats of that.

I removed the decals and was impressed with how they looked.

I used duplicolor wheel clear coat. I did 3 light coats and 3 wet costs. I think they look very nice considering how they began. I will let them set up and later tonight I'll go over them with 1500 and 2000 grit to smooth them out perfect and then wax them!

Not a lot of pictures to see from this weekend. But I did get the front seats back in and reconditioned. I stripped the fenders and bumpers from the car for paint prep down the road. I also got the replacement fender off the parts car. I'm getting pretty close. Next weekend I will finish the steering wheel up along with brake lines getting repaired and fix my water leak. I'm working on getting a 3600 stall coming to me so I can slap the tranny back in it. Once that is done I'll be down to the brake system and paint.

On a side note, I believe I'm gonna be trading my GTR for a c6z! Nothing to do with the restoration but still somewhat relevant lol.

Coming out great, nice GTR. Pretty crazy to see you have a GTR and messing with an LT1, you figure nice vehicles like that they would void your warranty if they knew you had a LT1 4th gen

Seriously, I would have never thought a person that owns a GTR would even think about investing money in a LT1 by putting gas in it, let alone investing as much money, time, and labor as you have.

You're freaken weird dude...

Jk

I got the interior finished up today aside from the console lid. Steering wheel stuff is a pain. Not 100% thrilled with the lighter colored plastics durability but the darker stuff is holding up great. I may end up spray all the plastic dark and just leave the Seats and carpet the light. Thoughts?

Also took some time today and hit the car with some sand paper just real quick to feel like I was doing something haha. She is basically stripped down for paint when that time comes in a few weeks.

Aside from numerous small things, I am needing to go through the brakes, pick up a stall and install the tranny, and paint it. Probably 3 dozen other small jobs but those are the major milestones left.

If by darker meaning to match the dash/console and leaving the fabrics lighter, it will look good. Lot of the OEM stuff is like that.

Just checking in guys. I haven't dropped the project just have had a pretty crazy couple of weeks. I picked up a revmax 3600 stall so I should be good to start with the tranny install next weekend.
