Lubing new cam.
Lubing new cam. Getting closer to pulling that stock cam out and getting the cc305 in! I was wondering what oil or lube you used on the cam, cam oil drive gear, and cam bearings when putting in the new cam? The cam may sit in the motor for as much as a month while the rest of the engine gets put back together. I was thinking i would por the gallon of oil before starting the engine all over the rockers and pushrods, and then slap the valve covers on and start it then let it run for about 10-15min at 1500-3000rpm?

I covered everything in engine assembly lube last year when I did mine. It is more thick and sticky and will hang on longer than oil. Do not confuse it with break in lube for a flat tappet cam.

Yeah no reason to immediately hold the engine at higher RPM after stabbing a cam. The purpose of that was to seat flat tappet lifters to the cam lobes. Use assembly lube. If it's going to be down for awhile then when you're ready to start it, prime the engine before firing it up.
