Default LT1 K&N FIPK intake issues

I purchased this intake off of summit which was sold under trickflow as a reboxed k&n. The problem I'm having I can not get the filter to clamp down, When I tighten the clamp around the filter it just slides right off! Same thing on top with the intake tube. Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you fix it?

The stock filter gave me hell on mine so I just went and got a Spectre filter from OReilly. It went on a lot easier. At the top it seems like you have to be creative with the clamp to get it to stay.

It seems like the rubber on the filter that the clamp goes around is just to small so it slips right off when I go to clamp it down. Was that the problem you had? Should of been a recall by K&N. I may have to go your route and try a different filter if summit wont take it has a return as a "defective" item

I grabbed a couple of screws and ran them into mine. Just long enough to go through the clamp and rubber. I got tired of it falling off all the time.

I had the same problem.. I ended up shoving it on there really hard and had someone tighten it down while I was holding it on there. It was a PITA. Good luck!

IDK if the Trick Flow is a re-box K&N or a "clone". Have had my K&N FIPK for 19 years but remember the rubber collar connecting to filter was big and when tightening the clamp it would have tendency to "push" away from filter causing it to pop off. Heating the collar in boiling water seemed to give it more pliability and making it somewhat easier to clamp and or having someone hold it while you tighten clamp. IDK why K&N had to make them that way.

When I went to a 383 I changed the intake eliminating all K&N supplied collars. Mine goes: Elbow to MAF to 3" metal band clamp (home depot) to K&N pipe to K&N filter (Filter clamps direct to pipe). Filter is still in the "cold air" box. So everything is direct clamp

Glad to see it wasn't only me, I was starting to think I was an idiot not being able to get the filter on. Well update I got summit to take back the intake. I traded for the SLP intake. So we'll see how it goes. @****** I did contact trickflow about this they told me its a true K&N Any any issues should be directed to K&N. Next week I'll be ordering long tube headers so it'll have full exhaust. Only other thing done to the car is a hooker catback. Trans is fresh from Mad dog so hopefully it last
