I was wondering if this tool would work on removing and installing the crankshaft hub?

Forgot to write hub at the end. So it should remove and install the hub with no problem then? I was looking for the Kent Moore tool but can't seem to find it.

That should work just fine. Kent Moore tools are hard to come by and if you do find one they are extremely pricey.

The "trick" to removing an LT1 balancer hub, is that you need to understand it's not like an older style balancer, where the center hub area was "wide open", and a conventional puller could press against the crank. The LT1 hub has only a small hole in it's center, for the retaining bolt to pass through.

What I did, was use a piece of threaded rod, like I was going to press the hub on, BUT slid a "3 jaw" puller over the rod, locked it in with a hex nut, and threaded 3 bolts through the puller, into the hub. I then used the hex nut that I had threaded on to the rod first, to draw the pulled back, which, in turn, drew the hub off the crank.

Note the small hole in the hub, below.
