Yup, with the right combo between heads and cam will get you there, this is why you see some motors with huge cams and stock heads make less power with those with smaller cams, a correct matching setup is the key to power.

It sounds healthy with the idle at 1000, I know with my car the pcm is set to command idle at 850 but it never gets that low always stays around 950-1100 rpm.

I've had the car since I was 16 so just over 10 years now. This is a new motor that u had built and installed myself with a couple friends. When I say it idels at 1500 rpms it idels like that for 5 minutes and drops down to about 1k RPMs. I know the computer is learning still but wasn't sure if that was normal or I'd that is adjusted in the tune. My Dyno/tune day is November 14th. They put a base tune on the computer so I could get it running. Finish line performance will be the ones tuning it.

A baseline tune to get the car running is just that.

You want that very modified engine to run right.....you get it tuned.

Your idling issues are normal for a performance engine that does not have a performance tune. Hell.....I'd bet it's running rich, too.

BTW.......a street tune is better than a dyno tune if drivability is a concern. Make sure FLP does both.

Jus' sayin'........

^^^ what he says, depending on the cam size I will have the cold idle at 12 to 1500, if you have a large cam and start it off at an low idle speed, for one it will throw a map code and possibly load up and foul plugs..

Okay thanks guys sorry for the silly questions just new to owing a car with a cam besides stock. How long would you say it should idel at 1500? It ideled like that for probably 10 minutes. This is the first couple times it has been started so I wasn't sure if the computer is learning. Dyno day is November 14th.

Yes.....it should always be an option.....but with some shops, you do have to ask for it.

Remember.....tuning on the dyno is almost ALWAYS at WOT.

Tuning on the street is under 'normal' driving conditions, normal acceleration/deceleration, normal part-throttle shift points and TC lock-up.

Its based on engine temps not time.
