Default 67 Camaro - LT1/TH350 Swap Speedometer Not Working

A buddy of mine is buying a 1967 Camaro that has had an LT1 swap - 96 LT1 with TH350 trans.
He was told by the dealer that the speedometer doesn't work. I do not know if it ever worked.
Any ideas what could be the issue? I know this is vague information, but I don't have much to go on at this point.
Does the TH350 have a VSS that runs the speedo? I would assume that the speedo in the 67 is mechanical. What, if anything, is needed to make them compatible with each other?

Thanks

The TH350 would have a cable drive to the factory cable driven speedo. Unless it's been blocked off. Now since this a swap car, without more info on what speedo is in the car, can't really help much until we know more details.

Ah, okay.
The car has retained its factory speedometer.
Any way you can explain how to cable drive works for the speedo, and what would block it?

If it's the factory speedo, then you should be able to route a speedometer cable between the speedo in the dash and the transmission. What the cable looks like:

It screws in to the back side of the speedo like so:

And then in to the trans where the drive gear resides:

Thank you so much. I really appreciate the details. That really helps.
Once I have the car on site, I will try to see what is happening. I may need to ask more questions.
Thanks again.
