Default Plug Gap

Swapping out my plugs and just want to be sure that I’m gapping them right. My setup is a large cam, headers, 3.5 exhaust w/ dynomax bullets no cats, 58 mm throttle, electric water pump, etc.

I've always went with a .035.

...to elaborate, I recently asked the same ? to Ed Wright. I take his advice seriously. Not only did he say a .050 gap...he said you want a good size spark, not a short gap .035 in a NA motor. Also if emission testing is something you need to deal with, a fatter spark is better, even going to .060.

Regarding heat range, he said stock unless you have closer to 13.xx-14.xx compression then go one range colder. I only have a 11:1 NA motor.

Ed also said when he had his dyno shop he had a bucket full of NGK plugs he removed from cars he was tuning as they exhibited misfire at high RPM's. Said do not run NGK period. Use Autolite 106

There is a lot of info on the internet....thought I would share what I was told by someone who knows WAY more about the LT1 platform and tuning than I and most others do, IMHO.
