Default Lt1 feels sluggish? Plus newb intro

Whats up guys first post here, just a dude that's got a 94 firebird formula lt1 6 speed daily driver 80k miles and im trying to figure out why it feels so slow? I didn't expect it to be crazy fast but a buddy had a 97 trans am auto that felt like a rocket ship compared to this. Hell before i bought it i raced the previous owner (good friend) and beat him in a stock 05 cobalt ss sc (never had the cobalt at the track but according to motor trend and other sources around 14.4 1/4 is what it runs pro driver ideal conditions)
The car is currently sitting on 275 60 15 mt et street radials on the rear and i understand that will make it feel slower with a tall tire effecting gearing and sticky not spinning and being dramatic but honestly the car feels faster shifting at about 4500rpm is there something wrong with it?
Haven't done a compression test yet but theres a reman tag on the block and the odometer and dash both show under 80k miles with no discrepancy, clutch doesn't slip will chirp even those big tires on the 1-2 and occasionally the 2-3 (very rarely) but only if shifted before 5k rpm
Car runs mint in normal driving and feels very strong at 2000-2500rpm light throttle rolling on in traffic but more often than not it chugs and doesn't run smooth from 1500 or so when accelerating but not a misfire and no cel???
