Default Shocks advice please

Hi, I’m new here and I’ve searched the forums but can’t get an answer for this question since every option includes ppl adding lowering springs.

I want to install Koni oranges on my car but I’m keeping the same springs since I don’t want my car lowered since I’m in Chicago and our roads are horrible. Is that fine to do ? Will I feel any difference at all ?
I will also add some Strano sway bars later on. I have a 94 trans am Gt stock 64k miles with the exception of a magnaflow catback.
Next year I’m planning on adding 18inch wheels with staggered tires 275/35-18 , 295/35-18.

Thank you

I would contact Sam and ask him what he suggests. I think he will agree with what I'm about to say, however. Koni oranges are ok. They are an upgrade over the stock ones for sure. They are budget friendly. If its just a cruiser with no track plans the they will do just fine and give you a good refresh of your ride.

The Bilsteins cost more but offer the best comfort based off numerous threads I have read, especially with stock springs. Those two will probably offer the best ride quality. I dont have personal experience with them, however.

Performance wise, the Koni Yellows are very good. They're probably the best all around choice without spending a ton of money on coil over setups. I have used these and loved them.

Ok thank you ! Yes I wouldn’t take it to the track. I’m a spirited driver tho. Here and there on the highway I’ll really push it.

I also want to add some shorty headers and a dyno tune in the future.

Koni Oranges are just fine for that.

Shorties won't do much, if anything. Longtubes will give you some good gains though. As long as they are not banned in your state. I wouldnt waste money on shorties.

Dyno tuning is very expensive. *Most* of the time it's done after several mods or certain mods like a cam/large intake. Mail order tuning for simple mods, such as long tube headers or a stall converter, is a good idea IMO. Look up "Frost tune". You mail your pcm in with your mods listed, and he'll take care of it.

I have longtubes, catless Y pipe without rear O2s, 3600 stall converter, SSRA, SLP cold air and his mail order tune was perfect for those mods.

I literally just went through this earlier this year. I have a 94 Z28 that is just an occasional driver with 48k mi. I ended up going Bilsteins all the way around with 02 SS/WS6 springs (Moog 60116) up front and new rear springs (Moog CC635).
I can’t tell you how much better the car rides and takes bumps. It really is day and night. It went from an old to ride to a more modern ride.

They are the GMPP ones from Summit part number 10164173. My old ones disintegrated.

Nice. Just ordered some. Saw a vid on needing to modify the mounts a bit for the jeep ones to fit and don't want to do that.
Thanks!

Yeah I didn’t want to do that either so I bit the bullet and ponied up for the GMPP ones. I’m glad I did.

They appear to be a softer rubber.

I forgot how Summit wants your soul, savings and first born when it comes to shipping. No matter. By the time these disintegrate I'll be drooling in a cup and won't know my name.

LOL... well, guess who did the right thing and didn’t read there’s only one per order and now has to order yet another.

The last set of bump stops I got from Jason Cromer, which was a few years ago, looked like those.
