Gojira, I've got a question for you.

You recommended the 08-423-8 cam which I decided to go with, however I placed an order in the beginning of March and as of yesterday Comp is saying they have no idea when they'll get the cores, then on top of that they have a "massive back log" of orders to fulfill so I don't know when I'll see this cam and I am ready to get this motor buttoned back up ...

Here's the question. I see a 08-432-8 that is in stock (confirmed). It's a touch more aggressive but Im ok with that. Will this cam work ok with the Bullet VS2700 springs (advertised good to .550 lift) I went with?

(orig) 08-423-8 - 276/282, Lift .502/.510 110 LSA
1900-5600 rpm

(new) 08-432-8 - 282/288, Lift .510/.520 110 LSA
2200-5800 rpm

Sorry, been away from keyboard a while. Not an optimal choice with stock heads, mid-220s duration and .540-ish lift on 1.5rr has been about the point of diminishing returns with stock LT1 heads. Think Vortec iron heads (which were designed directly from the iron B and D body LT1 heads). LT1 stock, untouched aluminum heads have similar limits. Spring upgrade for more lift only buys you so much, but safe lift (spring) into the .530" - .540" range will get you to the flow limits of the stock aluminum or iron LT1 (or SBC gen 1 Vortec) head. Too much duration with stock intake/ exhaust port will effectively make the ports 'lazy' and hurt port velocity and fuel vaporization and make the head less efficient on burn in the chamber. Will it work? Yes. Will you get the extra performance from the increase in duration? No.

This cam is a very good choice, I believe TFS does these for Summit. $269.00 for a near duplicate of the LT4 hot cam:

https://static.summitracing.com/glob...s/sum-8802.pdf
112* LSA, 1* advanced. 218/227, .525/.520
Remember, any SBC1 cam will need dowel length adjustment, think we already covered that and you're ditching the opti and going with a SBC1 timing set, so verify anyway during assembly/ adjust if needed.

Ah bummer, well I pulled the trigger anyway. Thought it wasnt a huge bump over the one i originally planned on, which is still on backorder. I wont be able to road test for at least a little while, maybe this fall. Figuring out my T10 right now. Awhile back I had a roller 305 with a 5 speed which I undercammed, I believe it would have responded nicely to more cam. I did the same with my truck which is a 5.3 ls although I am happy with the way it runs. Oh well, I will hope for the best.

Gojira, not sure if I asked this or not. In your opinion (or anyone who wants to chime in for that matter) will the 08-432-8 require a pushrod length change or am I safe to use stock length??
