Default Nitrous finished, Timing questions/ methanol.

Just put together everything for my nitrous set up. It is a wet system feeding off of the return line. I have not loaded the nitrous in the bottle yet, still waiting on a psi gauge. My fuel side is all good, floored it and my psi does not dip at all; granted it is only a 50 shot. I do not plan to back off on the timing for only a 50 shot.

1. Could I run 100 shot, and just rely on the knock sensor to back off on the timing ?
2. Is there some sort of piggy back system I could install to back off on the timing ?
3. Will I even need to back off on timing at all by running a methanol injection system ?

Here is a stock lt1 timing table. Seems if at WOT it is only at 33 degrees, should I be fine for a 75 shot ?

I found a timing table for a stock LT1, since at WOT under load is only 33 degrees. Wouldnt I be fine for atleast a 75 shot ?

I've heard the rule of thumb is 2 degrees for every 50 shot of n2o. I've also read a stock bottom end should be good for around a 150 shot. I've yet to dig into this realm. I plan to soon. I'm sure someone with real world knowledge will chime in.

The only way to know for sure is to read the plugs. I would not base my answer off replies from the internet on a topic like this.

Will it be OK? Maybe..maybe not.

Is it worth possibly blowing your **** up?

That's up to you.

If you aren't going to use a dyno or track and read plugs. Go with the recommended suggestion of pulling timing.

Just an update. I’m currently running 50 shot rwhp perfectly fine. The computer hadn’t detected any knock and didn’t do a crazy emergency pull back on timing.

Ive gone through two msd units and they’ve just died on me within a month so I went back to standard gm ignition system. Hence why I’ve been looking for work around. For “Track days” I’m just going to load a secondary tune with locked timing for a larger shot.

I've seen a lot of people do something with the IAT sensor on a LS1 pcm's, I'm guessing something could be done on the LT1 pcm but I don't know.

Bascially when you arm your nitrous system, it breaks the circuit for the IAT sensor which will cause the sensor to show -40. If there is an IAT adder table, you can have it pull out timing or go to a fixed timing value, depending on what the table actually does.

The LT1 PCM platform does not provide any IAT control such as that.
@Money_Pit what year is your LT1?

The vin number says it is a 1994. Just on some parts of the body it says it was made in 1993.
