Default Freeze plug question

Take a look at the attached picture. That is the hole in the block for the water pump drive shaft. Going electric so i dont need the shaft sitting there doing nothing. Is it necessary to plug this hole or can it stay open along with the two below it?

Ok to leave open.

On the cover, a half dollar works in case you have issues finding a plug that fits.

Yea you can leave that hole open in the block and JB weld a quarter or a knockout from a junction box or electrical panel into the timing cover.

I see you got your cam installed - which one did you end up choosing?

Gojira94 I went with the 08-432-8 as it was in stock and ready to ship. Was not interested in the hotcam.

By the way i decided not to use the quarter trick and couldnt find a freeze plug that'd fit. So i got a 3/4" long allen head bolt and welded it to a fender washer, with a rubber washer behind that. Inside the cover is another fender washer and a nylock nut. I machined off the shoulder inside the cover with a flap disc
