Default Crank Balancer wear line?

Would you guys worry about how the seal wore into this crank hub? I sanded it down the best i could with some 320 grit to polish it up. It's barely catchable with a fingernail.

well it does not look "machine polished", so only way to find out if it is "OK" relative to sealing is to run it

with that said a new hub would be available, even a keyed one.

I wouldn't worry about it until it started leaking.

You can also get a repair sleeve.

This^^^^^ It's called a Speedi-sleeve, they come with a metal cup to use for installation....a little red loctite and rubber mallet is all you need👍

It also helps if you don't drive the seal to the exact same depth as the original, so the seal isn't hitting the old groove..
The seal I got recently had a note NOT to lube it.. They want it to start dry ..
Speedy sleeves work great, I use GREEN locktite.. I don't want it to move.. without fire...
LOL

that seal would be a PTFE seal, and yes, they install dry. Front and rear main seals, and others are offered in rubber or PTFE with the latter being a newer type used now more commonly. The WP drive seal has always been a PTFE seal

Speedy Sleeve is a common fix for grooved damper hubs...but IMHO hubs are readily available and also come keyed which IMHO is better than just the stock "press on" type. A machine shop can even key a non-keyed hub

Throw a repair sleeve on it, cheap and easy.
