Default 1.7s or 1.85 rocker arms for lt1?

Do these even exist for the LT1 or for some reasone can you not stick rockers bigger than 1.6 in the valvetrain?....i cant find 1.7 or 1.85 rockers anywhere for the lt1, but they pop up all day long for an ls1. grr...if they do exist will someone please direct me to somewhere that would have them for under a million dollars.

on the same note...will stock or otherwise rockers that work with an ls1 work on an lt1?

Edit: Alright i just did the math on this..and if i did this right the lift with 1.85 rockers would be 664/688

c'mon, thats waayy to high, seems like a lift like that would present major problems wouldnt it?

1.7 rockers

This is a link to thunders page. Check out the last item under comp cams.

Were you looking for figures of the stock lift with a 1.85 ratio rocker? If you could find 1.85 which I'm not sure if anyone produces them the lift with the stock cam would work out to be .551/.566. This is way past the factory spring binding point.

One thing you might consider about high ratio rockers, they will produce more fricition and negate some of the power you gain. It is best to use 1.5 and 1.6:1 ratio rockers and make the extra lift with your cam.

that's funny. I wonder why the LS1 and all BBCs use 1.7 rockers then?

The 1.7's will work fine, just make sure you have Guide Plates that line the roller tips up correct on the valve stem tips (GM guide plates on stock heads for example better lineup than Comp GPs. Also check the RR tip clearances are equal over the step tip with a perm marker. From all I've read the few I've seen using 1.7's have had no problems, just don't cut any corners with quality valvetrain components if you go this route. I use the 1.7s Comp HiTech Stainless and they hold up well, not cheap though.

FYI, the LS1's can run 1.85's + due to their redesigned crank/cam/valvetrain geometry, not under quite as much stress as the LT's running high lift RRs at least.

GM847 for now, got something on it's way even crazier though , but the 847 was awesome for the last few months. The 1.7's Comp HiTech SS rockers are about $ 360 from Summit, ummm...I got a killer deal...they were 10 minutes old on my buddies car, he realized they would not fit with his big springs...and I got em for $125.00. I just come across a lucky deal, in fact sold the brand new 1 week old Comp 1.6 ProMag RRs to use these 1.7s.

If you get the 847 cam go with a good spring like Crane's PN 99893-16. PM me an email and I can send you an adobe of the cam card and spring specs if your interested.

It also seems everyone buy's the HPP3 but we all know the unit is trash. It's not too hard to imagine that the higher ratio rockers will create more friction. If he's not running a moster cam why not just make more lift from the cam and run lower ratio rockers? Seems to be the smarter way to go.
