OneMeanZ, I would go with the GM847, CC306, or the 233/239 cam I mentioned. With an M6, you should have no trouble getting around town with any of them. When I was doing my build up, everyone kept telling me 'that cam is huge.' Now that I've got the thing installed, I'm wondering why I didn't go bigger. These cams will require tuning and may require bigger injectors, but both are somthing you'll need if you ever put heads on anyway.

What kind of hp are we talking about with the 306 on factory unported heads....I would really like around 320 to 330 at the wheels.....is this possible? I am at about 285rwhp or 290rwhp.....(raced a 97 Z who dynoed 285 and I pulled about a 1/4 of a car) Need to get it dynoed though

I'm not sure if it would happen because the LT1 heads will choke the 306 pretty bad, but if I can still make so decent power with the stock heads with a 306, I do it. (I love the lope too!)

Check out CamaroZ28.com in the lt1 section...2 or 3 people lately have posted ~350rwhp on stock heads.

With Jet Hot's and true duals, a 306 cam will put you at or above 330rwhp. I believe the factory stock cams clock in at 203-205 degrees of duration depending on model year - so you'd literally be adding 30 degrees of duration. You will need tuning, 1.6 ratio rockers, hardened pushrods (if you don't already have them) valve springs, retainers (reccommend titanium) and keepers. I reccommend getting springs that are adequate for 1.7 rockers so you can run more lift when you get some better heads.

Don't touch the heads if you don't know how to port. Don't even try it if you don't know what you're doing.
Actually the 847 is much more streetable than the 306 imo. It has much more torque and pretty much drove like stock in my buddies car. My car on the other hand surged quire a bit and didn't make **** for torque with the 306. It did make awesome power up top though!

The 847 has proven to be the better of the two (between it and the 306) on stock heads. The 847 on a couple of cars has pulled right around 360.

I think SStrokerAce on CZ28 (Bret Baur) did a custom cam for a stock headed car and came up with about 365/365 at the ground, but the amazing part was the curve. It was NICE!!!!

Oh, and I'm going to call B.S. on the 400 RWHP on stock heads. AIN'T gonna happen. It may have run good with a 100 shot, but that kind of number isn't going to rear it's head with a stock LT1 head up on top.

I beg to differ on the 400+ rwhp on stock heads. I seen it!! 1 dyno run put down 535. then 2 runs at the track. that was that! dropped a valve, blew a hole through a piston cracked the block, split the crank, and broke the opti in half. Like I said, I seen it, just how long it lasted wasn't the question. This guy had $$$$$$$ to burn and wanted to see how much juice it could take. was a 2 stage 300 shot.

What was he spinning to if you know?? I know most 847/stock head guys are only having to spin to about 6200 if memory serves me.

The 306 guys with ~350 rwhp are pushing 6600+rpms... 6300rpm just doesnt seem like enough to see that much power.
