Lifter question

SPeaking of Comp R's here. I've noticed that I've got a couple of lifters that I can easily compress (with the cylinder at TDC, tried this while adjusting lash) a couple/few and it feels spongy. Some are just dead stiff and I can't compress, then there's that select few that offer almost no resistance.
Are these shot lifters?? I'm still chasing my same problem for over a year now and it's starting to wear thin.
IF it was a collapsed/shot/ect lifter, the valve wouldn't open all the way, not as much air would get in, and there would be a rich condition shown on a sacnner, correct?? This could also be associated with a low RPM cutting out with a fast WOT movement due to excess unburned fuel in the mixture, correct?

what you are saying sounds right. Unless you have lifters sitting awhile where they will bleed down, all should feel relitively the same. best bet would be to through a new set of lifters in and see even a stock set.

Well, I snagged a set of 78K stockers for testing only purposes. Not absolutely sure if I'm going to do them yet or not, but the ability is there now. IF they are bad, I may not go with Comp R's the next time around.
Have you run the car recently or has it been sitting? The lifters shouldn't do that if the car has been run somewhat recently and they're pumped up at least with stock lifters but i'd assume the comp r are the same. About a month ago I started to hear a slight ticking coming from the motor, turned out to be a shot lifter. After I replaced it the car idled way better and had a ton more top end. Unfortunatly i have the car all torn apart again, some how a small screw got into the number 6 cylinder 
I forgot to add that every now and then the car would get a hick up at lower rpms from this as well, seemed like the ignition would cut out for a split second however it went away after the lifters were changed.
