There are other solutions too. Here's one and I know there's another one. Let me see if I can find the other.

im still not sold on the opti being a really weak link. i have 87k on my stocker and its still running fine. i have had the accel 300+ on the car for over 3 years, an msd coil and i have everything under the hood atleast 5-6 times a year since i got the car in 98.

even tho it is still an opti spark, it is cheaper then GM units!
i've had a bearing failure on one and the one on the car now has something broken inside of it (rattles around when its off the car)

i might be ordering one of those also, because of price

So if it's just the cap and rotor? Does that mean the optical portion of the stock Opti have be be reused?

That sucks that it is only a cap and rotor. The optical portion will need to be transferred from the stock unit, and from what I have heard, that is usually the part that goes bad.

no, the majority of failures with the opti is the cap and rotor portion. while the optical sensor can fail, it is less likely to do so then the cap and rotor

and that really sucks that it is only the cap and rotor part and not a whole opti unit replacement

Man, my '94 Z28's opti only made it 8 years and 95,000 miles . Even worse my TA's opti only lasted 9 years and 104,000 . I think I'm cursed !
