LT1 Edit for OBD1 is VIN locked, LT1 Edit for OBD2 needs their special cable and the cable is VIN locked somehow. If you do not have to worry about plugin emmisions testing an OBD1 swap and Tunercat(not VIN locked) is a reasonably priced alternative and what I use.

How much is the cable for LT1edit? Can you do everything with tunercat that you can with LT1edit??

The OBD1 cable is not bad I think I paid $65 for one with an OBD2 end like your car would need, the OBD2 cable comes with the software period as far as I know.
When talking OBD1 Tunercat does do everything LT1 Edit does and even more yet cost only $90 and is not VIN locked.

I'm gonna do a lil more research to see what all I need but I'm pretty sure I'll be going with OBD1 and tunercat.

I can find you a link on the minor pcm mods needed to make the OBD1 pcm work with your current knock sensors. It requires just a little bit of soldering and less than a dollars worth of parts. Actually I need to find the link again because I have a couple pcms I need to do it to.

www.madz28.com is another option. Ion sells OBDI conversion kits that work with the current OBDII knock sensors.

Are knock sensors that expensive?? If I go OBD1 computer and put OBD1 knock sensors in then what about the knock module, still need an LT4 knock module?
