Why do you guys keep holding on to your lt1s?

Wow here is my list-
First "real" uscle car I have owned.
$ already invested I would never get back.
Memories.
All my buddies have ls1's , blah!
Looks , like it way better than the sebring look alike(98-02 Camaros).
Deep throaty-sound (lol deep throat).
The look on peoples face when you walk them in a "lt1"???
The challenge of racing the more "refined" ls1. Refined is for work and special events after that F' You!!

My first reason would be the sound. The sound is what got me hooked. Even with stock exhaust parts, the engine would growl and idle. With the LS1, it seems that you would have to put a microphone at the end of the exhaust to hear anything.
The second reason is every knowledgable car guy knows what the LT1 is and what it is capable of. The reputation seems to precede the engine. For the ones that know what they are talking about, the LT1 is an engine that gets a lot of respect (not to mention it's the largest street legal V8 you can have). The LS1 just doesn't have the history.
And my third reason would be nothing beats "old" school muscle.

My top ten reasons are:
1. Its been paid off for years.
2. Mods are cheaper
3. I love the sound of it.
4. I have a mortgage $$$
5. Son and another on the way (daycare $$$$)
6. Wife - lucky she lets me keep this as a 2nd car as it is
(also see #4 & 5 )
7. Its a 97, I like the looks better and it has the LS1 interior anyway
8. Ran 12's with boltons, about to hit 11's with just hotcam
9. Telling LS1 owners that I just beat that it just has 'boltons and a hotcam'
10. $$$$

Why do I keep my LT 1 TA when I own a 35thSS 345hp?
The camaro is a pet rock when I compare it to my TA.
They are essentially the same cars the only difference being the TA is always considered the underdog because its an LT 1.
Have not been to the track on any day and seen a car drive (not get Trailered) to the track and run any better than my LT 1 car without using a Nitrous Bottle and that includes many LS powered ARE cars.
And even though GM has forgotten the LT 1 (just look through a gmpp catolog) there are enough parts in the aftermarket and old school engine builders that you can still build a super street car without having to deal with any of the so called LS 1 specialists that charge a premium for doing less.
2002 35th ss 12.85 110
1996 TA 11.01 131.25 1.79 60ft

why??????? you ask....thats easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
because since 98' when ls1 came out I didnt jump ship like alot of my friends did...and the constant idle chit chat of how ancient lt1 technology was and was so inferior gave me the drive to prove a point that Lt1 could compete and even win ...
with that note:
PROOF DELIVERED !!!!!
not only did lt1's take first in the three top classes in the N VS. S ls1tech race ....But they even shown the lt1 is alive at the thunder shootout with a lt1 coming second in outlaw ,first in prostock ,and second in mod stock so to all those whoever rags you for owning a lt1 ,maybe reminding them of the last two events (ls1 events I might add) will put a lil frown on thier faces ,and lil smile on yours.... goodluck to all my fellow lt1 owners that are still striving for this decrepid engine, they call LT1....

I hold on to mine because its all I can afford. Its not a bad car I wish it would go faster but everyone always does. If I got an LS1 I would want worse to break in to the 11's because I'd be closer to them and that would cost me more money. I achived my goal of runing a 12 bolt on and I'm happy for now.

The main thing..... the LT1 car is mine (paid for) and it was the first car that I bought after graduating college!! I would love to have a LS1 car but I am saving up for my Viper (when I'm not putting $$ in the LT1 to keep up with LS1's LOL).
That's my reason

well since i was in 7th grade i always loved Lt1's i feel in love with my cousins 97 SS. so i had to have a LT1. i like the look that LS1 owners give you when you pull them at top end. and then they say are you squeezing. My cousin traded the LT1 for a LS1 and i made him regret that he did that just on friday. lol he was surprised that my LT1 got him.
I like racing 03 cobras and people doubting the car. whenthen i smoke them. and they as what do i have and all i have is just long tubes
i also love the big shots of nitrous that you can take to the motor and nothing will happen. not like those ls1's
also i like the fact of hitting high 12's on just bolt ons. and without lifting the valve covers. you got to love that.
i am only 19 and i will never lead to a ls1. maybe one daty for a daily driver.lol
