Can LT4 rockers be modified?!
Can LT4 rockers be modified?! I read when I ordered the LT4 hotcam kit last year the rockers are "not to be used on cams with more than .550 lift" Why is this so? is it a clearance issue? do I need to extend the slots? or grind material away near the tips? any help would be greatly apreciated.
The GMPP rockers are made for GM by Crane and the Crane golds are aluminum, matter of fact the Comps are the only full roller steel rocker I can think of. The Crane golds are very similar to the ones they make for GM but are good to more lift. The GMPP rockers have a shorter slot which makes for more strength but at the expense of lift capacity. I would not grind on them, sell them and buy the right rockers. Everyone thinks the GMPP rockers are the best thing ever made so someone will buy them quickly. If going to a cam too large for those rockers you will be outgrowing the LT4 springs as well, might I suggest you call Combination Motorsports I know they often have a special on their springs and the Comp ProMagnum roller rockers at a very reasonable price.

when it comes to valvetrain, do it right the first time. sell them off, just like im selling off mine, and get the correct rockers. if they did work with lift right under .600", they wouldn't work very long and you'd lose more than just the rocker/s
I suppose you're right, why chance it, ill either get a cam with less than .575 or sell them off for some magnums. Ive already been taking enough chances with my 115,000 mile lifters
One of the Impala guys running 11s with a 4500lbs. car on a stock shortblock with heads/cam and a 200shot lost his motor to a little aluminum from a failing rocker, like you said not worth the chance. A rocker fails it will at least send metal into the pan.

im selling my GMPP 1.6 self-aligning rockers. all youd want to do is replace your stock springs with, say, the LT4 springs (good to .525" lift), add these rockers and see 10-15rwhp gains on a near stock car.
