Default LT1 Canton "T" Oil Pan - (Picture's inside)

Just picked up my Canton Oil pan for my 396 build-up. It looks even better in person then it does in pics, believe me. Along with providing additional clearance under the car, it also provides an additional qt of oil aswell.

The quality of the welding is all top notch. This pan looks so good, it's a shame you won't be able to see it from above.

Your's leaked? I'm hoping yours was just defected or something. I'd hate to think I just coughed up all that $$ on something''s that's gonna leak on me.

Anyone else have this problem with their Canton??

P.s. Thanks for the tip about making sure it clears the steering rack before bolting it in. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

Go do a search on Camaroz28.com. You will find all kinds of bad stuff about Canton pans. I was going to use one on my buildup until I reasearched them a little bit, I'm not now!

As mentioned already, the leaking problems with these pans were only on the previous generations. These new ones don't seem to have any of the leaking issues the old ones did. Atleast, no one I've spoken too that has the new design has mentioned anything negative.

Looks like I'm safe !

I don't know, you might want to check into it anyway. There was a guy on Camaroz28.com that his pan would leak from the welds! I may be mistaken but I think that he had the "new" pan also! They have got me scared enough that I'm not going to spend thousands on a new motor just to have it leak all over my new floor. I'll do without the oil level sensor and buy a different oil pan or just use a stock.

First thing I did when I took it out of the box was fill it with water and kept it there for 20min. No leaks at all.

I know the guy your referring too from another forum who says his leaked from the welds. He must have gotton a major dud 'cause the first thing I noticed when I pulled my pan out of the box, was just how well done all the welding was. All top notch on my pan. I say again, VERY well made piece.

yeah I also did the same thing and the welds were beautiful...Also being able to use your stock level indicator and having the assurance of the race pan with stock like fitment is the reason I went canton...I talked to a rep there for a while on the phone and he assured me I wouldnt be disappointed so lets hope...so far so good though just havent installed it yet

You haven't installed it yet either?

Here we are boasting on how happy we are with our pans and how impressed we are with the welds... bla...bla..bla.

Wouldn't it be funny if after we installed them, they turned out
to be total crap Man would we feel stupid

I hope that they do work good for you guys because they do look like a very nice pan and for a good price too. I have a buddy that has one on his 396 car from a buildup not too long ago and the thing leaks like crazy. My car is not a daily driver, so I'm not worried about the oil level sensor. TPIS makes a good aftermarker extra capacity pan that I think that I am going with. It is under $200.00 and they say that it is a nice piece.
