I have that article believe it or not, that test was a lot like a GMHTP test, as they just produced numbers. Never seen it replicated, in person or with a time slip unfortunatly.

BTW, badcamaro..what I would recomend, if you want an LT1 SS..is to get a Z28 and add the hood.
One thing that I loved about my LT1 was the interior it came with that the LS1's didn't..it was called flame red..if you want some pics of it, I can send them to you..it is easily the best designed interior color scheme any company has ever made.

Not saying that one motor didnt come stronger, but saying times will vary anwhere you go. My friends poorly driven ls1 drove like low 14(M6) and he is stock. My parents stock 2000 ws6 pulled a 13.7 stock(a4). My LT1 pulled a low 14(m6) when stock. All of these were at HRP.
To pull a 14 at HRP, you seriously need to miss a shift or pull a 2.6 60 which a kid learning how to drive stick could do better than.

How (96-97) SS is compare to LS1?
I know one he had SS before few months. He said it is approximately like LS1 on the power. Is it true? If isn't, what mods are needed to make it equal to LS1 on performance

Nope...the LT1 is approx 30-40 rwhp less than a LS1. Of course other variables come into play... such as year of Ls1....01's and up dyno higher as do LS1 cars with slp options. The 96-97 ss or even ws6 lt1 is nothing special for a Lt1 as far as hp is concerned. For max power a 95 lt1 is the best due to being OBD-1 and only 1 cat instead of 2. To make it even you would need a CAI, catback, and some tuning and maybe headers. The main drawback to LT1 motors is the heads. They are not bad by SBC standards but compared to the 15 degree LS1 heads that come on LS1's stock ours dont hold a candle. However it should be noted that Lt1's love spray and that would be a great equalizer!!!!
