Is it worth it to ditch SLPs for longtubes?

I seriously considered swapping to a longtube design header. After much diliberation I concluded that because my car is lowered, I didn't want to deal with the headache of ground clearance issues with the longtubes, especially since my car, at the time, was my daily driver. The minimal gains, to me, just weren't worth the extra effort etc...
Here is something else to consider:
Years ago, for those that have been around this long, George Baxter's 700+rwhp, YS trim blown 97 SS had AS&M mid-length headers. After switching to Hooker longtubes, he actually lost about 10rwhp on the topend......!!
Just my .02 as usual....

I think you've been
You aren't gonna gain 20 hp over 94-95 SLP's going to LT's. On my hot cammed car I did not pick up much of anything from changes I made except from tuning.
stock LT4 H/I/Hot cam, ST3500, BBK shorties and 3.23s, and no real tuning, pulled 320ish.
Put on LT4 Heads with bowl work and larger valves, LTs, duals, TH350, 3600 stall, 3.73s, and no tuning, 320ish.
After leaning it out pulled 340ish.
I think if the motor is pusing alot of air LTs are worth it but the cam has to be pretty big and/or the Cubic inches have to be there.
I see alot of the same post about all this power to be gained but I have not seen it with my vehicle.
