Ed whats the race weight of your car..
That is one impressive LT1...

Joe O. so your saying the the type of intake your running would actually get me more ET on a 11.50 car thats using a ported LT1 intake w/58 now?

Could u guys tell me at what point would u ditch the LT1 intake?

Interested as well Joe. I always wondered why there are not too many aftermarket options for the intake yet. I would like to know at what hp i should junk it, in your opinion.

It weighs 3350 with my fat rear in it. I think you threw money away on that 58mm tb. My car makes the exact same power with a 58 as the old bored-out stocker on it now. This one was bored to 52mm, made less than 5 rwhp difference. That difference was only above 6500 rpm. 58mm laid it's graph lines exactly on top of the 52mm graphs. Averaged three pulls with each, average was exactly the same. Glad I had one to try, instead of throwing money away on that purchase.

Good luck, Ed

I cant honestly say when is the ideal place to ditch it..Since I went that route over 3 years ago...I do know that steve quinn went from a fabbed lt1 style and ran 9.90 to a wilson carb style and ran 9.71 not sure on exact numbers but 2 1/10's in the 9 sec range is quite a bit to gain n/a.... maybe he can elaborate more since hes got more a-b testing than i do and I dont know if that was the only change he made...

Joe I would say there is a little gain over the two intakes. As the fastest I went on the LTX intake was a 9.81 @ 136, on on the vic it was a 9.71 @ 138, but that was in air a few hundred feet better. Also on the vic I have about 1 square inch more of throttle area, and on the vic it did not really show anything till I started shifting at 8200-8400, as I was shifting at 7800-8000 on the LTX intake.

Thanx guys,I guess the ported lt1 isnt that bad?
I just wanna go 11.30's with car..

Its a 3500lb TEA S2 headed 383 with a 242-248 575-595 112+4 XER lobe with hooker lt's and all the boltons plus a Yank 3800 stall and 4.10's.

We ran out of inj. (30's) at the top of 1st gear but I think the alt was crapping out too and the **** wiring gm puts on the intank pump was causing a voltage drop?

I just put the hot wire kit in the car and upped the inj to 42's along with an inline pump too.I finished match porting the intake last week and smoothed out the runners too along with doing alittle in the tb area.

We are finish tuning the FAST in the next 3 weeks...

Car went 11.90@116 running out of fuel (14.8 A/F and 122PW) according to the FAST data Thanks god we didnt hurt the engine.....

Hopefully the car will now go 120 and run 11.30's we are expecting..

Some great knowledge in here, I have a 396 with a lt4 intake and a 58mm TB. The intake is not ported yet due to it's late arrival , how much hp am I losing 8-12?? I still have tuning issues as well that will be worked out soon car is choking up above 5700 rpms?? Car also seems to dump fuel on decelartion? Made 398 hp and 389 tq, hope that with the tune and intake ported I will get 425RWHP. Car is auto(97) stall and 3:73's. Any advise from you lt1 guru's?

My old stock bottem end baby cam(220/226) and Lloyd Elliot heads went 116.7 through an a4 with a 3000 midwest stall and 3.73's in 2350DA. I was going to try for 119mph in better weather with a better tune.(I was on mail order still) I was hoping for 11.2x's at 119 with a bigger TB, electric waterpump, suspension, some stickier tires, and better weather.

Skinnies,Your old setup sounds like are old setup.Stock bottom end, same verter and gear 230-236 cammed car 11.85@114.50

I'd expect 120 out of this 383 or I'll burn it to the ground,u gotta understand the inj were getting PW to 122 and the A/F shot to 14.8.I'm just lucky I didnt hurt the engine.

What was the race weight of your car Skinnies...

Not sure on the raceweight, I'd guess around 3400 though.
