I didnt read all the post but I got my HOT cam car to 11.96.
RW was 3450-3500, skinnies, ET Streets.
355 w/ LT4 heads with 2.02/1.60 and bowl work. CC987 springs and Ti retainers. Comp R lifters. BBK 52MM TB, LTCC. Hooker LTs and Duals dumping under the car.
Spohn and BMR suspension. 10bolt with 3.73s and a TH350/3500 Vig.
It would have went better with better tune and more gear.
Went 11.17 with a 100shot.
Sure wish i still had it.....

My best time w/ hotcam was 12.27@113 60' 1.79. (bad clutch) The only suspension work i have is LCA's and torque arm. 12 bolt 430's. I just installed SPECIII clutch because my old one was SOOOOO shot, im sure with the new clut i can hit 12.00 or better and reduce my 60' I have ported heads and matched intake. Think 12.00 is possible with new clutch??? Also ran Hoosier QTP's.

Back in 10/03 I ran a best of 12.41 @ 109 with a 1.73 60 foot. PP stock heads, LT4 hotcam, CAI, Pulley, 3.73s, and SLP headers. The was not running @ 100%, I had a few issues.
My car is now running right and will be dyno tuned soon, so when the tracks open up in about a month I hope to shave a few tenth off of my best!

Comparing the CC306 to a LT4Hotcam is like comparing a 427 Shelby Cobra to a Ford Contour. Those two cams are much different in durration.
Both cams will net you great results. But the hotcam is much more of mild cam, and can be emission friendly. The cc306 has more overlap, and will allow bigger gains but you will sacrafice more driveability with it vs the hotcam. Its a old cam, and a proven cam. People have ran great e.ts. with that cam, with or without ported heads.
But they shouldn't be compared together.
Of course its going to be much easier to crank more power out of the cc306 with a good set of ported heads vs the lt4hotcam and ported heads.
But remember when ever your gunning for 11's, there are so many other factors that can hold you back from getting all that new found power to the ground.

Get the 306! You don't want to be trapping 110mph with heads and cam. My car had shorty headers and stock gears with the 306 and I trapped 112's at the track. Best mph was 112.66. Wheels were much heavier than stock and I only had the spare tire and jack removed.

just something to think about joe overton has the fastest stock botom end lt1 at 11.05 and also the fastest stockbottom end ls1 at 10.35.
so maybe he has something going with his cam design
