Default A major problem???

I know this is an LS1 forum but I am hoping for some help. Ok. I got my intake ported and polished. The car didnt run for almost 2 months. I get the intake back on and get everything running great, for about 20 minutes. All of a sudden, I lost all oil pressure and the car shuts off. I changed the oil hoping it would help. I did gain some oil pressure and went off for a drive. The car wouldnt shift unless I was just barely pressing the gas, If I tried to accelerate, the car wouldnt go above about 3 grand and would not shift unless I let off of it. Again, very little oil pressure and no oil pressure at idle. The car would shut off at idle with no oil pressure. The car started to run hot, and would have overheated had I not shut it off. Any ideas on whats wrong? It did throw codes, however I cant scan it since it wont run and I cant get it to Auto Zone. Any ideas?????

ALL you did was remove the intake, are you insane, do you know what that could lead to?!?!?!?? j/k...

First off.. What kind of car, how many miles, any other mods other than the intake manifold (that IS what you got ported and "polished" right?)?

Now then for typical fixes for an LT1 car...

Did you damage the MAF wires any?

Did you disconnect the fuel rail, or just hang it over the side? If it was fully disconnected, did you protect the fuel lines in anyway?

Did you damage the oil pressure sending unit (if it's a 94+ car)?

Did you reconnect ALL the vacuum lines as they were before you took off the manifold?

Did you make sure you get the bellow correctly seated on the throttle body?

There.. start with those....

I would check the oil pressure sending unit about the oil pressure. Its probaly on the back of your intake. My buddy had the same problem. As far as the codes, I would scan them for free if I lived close by. But check all vacuum lines like Rob said. Good luck.

Like I said, it ran beautifully for about 20 min. It was all downhill after that. Everything is hooked up right, all vacume lines, everything. The only think I am going to take a shot at is checking the sending unit tomorrow in the dark. Thats the only thing I can think of. It is a stock LT1 with 140K miles. The intake is the only thing I have touched.

Well, it certainly seems like an intake leak of some sort.. Did you put on new gaskets?

I don't think a vacum leak would cause a drop in oil pressure sounds like a possible oil pressure problem to me, you could have knocked off the sending unit right there at the back of the intake right in front of the EGR.
if the computer doesn't see any oil pressure it will go into safe mode as will most newer cars, however if you knocked it off you wouldn't see any oil pressure at all this it what leads me to believe you may have an internal problem.
step 1 check sending unit.
step 2 pull the intake and check the oil pump drive
step 3 break out your check book and start writing

If he knocked off the oil pressure sensor, there is a slight chance it's still mostly connected and is just shorting, hence the fluctuating oil pressure. 30AnvZ28, do you hear any engine knocking when you see the oil pressure drop?

It is easy to hit and damage since it's sticking right up there in the air.
