Aren't the oiling holes in the band in different locations? Like 90° different?

I wonder if the bands are the same dimensions?

The important dimensions on the lifter are the diameter of the lifter body and the position of the oiling band around the perimeter of the lifter body. The oiling band must intersect the oil galley in the block during all lifter movement. In addition the oiling band must not drop out of the bottom of the lifter bore when the lifter is on the cam basecircle. If it does oil pressure will drop drastically.I do not think the oiling holes are in different locations,I may be correct in saying that it may matter so much as it as it does with the oil band size and location of that.CRANE'S pn#10535-16 will work OK up to about .610 lift.Depending upon how the block was machined they might handle.625 lift but sometimes they wouldn't.Crane has introduced a new lifter (pn#144535-16) which has a different oil band size and location which will aloow the use of cams in excess of.700 valve lift (with 1.7 rockers)in ALL LS1 blocks, regardless of model year. This is a special billet body lifter with a premium wheel and special oiling.LASTLY~with respect to tests on all types pf engines at CRANE and elsewhere has positively shown that hydraulic roller lifters work best with significant preload while flat tappets hyd.lifters make best power with almost no preload.Hope that helps everyone on this topic!
THANK YOU!

Dang I have been busy and not been here for a bit.

Barry I was not realy trying to be a dick as much share what we had looked into over the years. We ALWAYS check for correct push rod length so maybe that is part of why we never had a problem. Kind of like you always check piston to valve when installing heads.

THanks for all the good infomation.
