I've seen them and they aren't the greatest thing, they tend to be more difficult to tune and work with, stick with the 58mm and be happy

I know peopel who have them and unless your planning on alot of hp the bbk 58 will do just fine. On the other hand there is no such think as too big of a t/b for our cars. either way your going to gain something. It may not be alot but you will gain something out of it. IF you fo to camaroz28.com in the advanced section. There as a good thread about this.

Unless your planning on more than 600hp n/a, no need for a 58mm TB. A 52 pulls some serious air. Think of any other car out there that can run 500+ hp and maybe uses a single 85 mm TB. Now, a 48 X 2=96, 52 =104, 58 = 108...that's alot of damn air. worry more about the MAF being too constrictive rather than the TB.

First off, you can't add, 58 + 58 = 116.
Second, For circular throttle bodies, 48mm x2 = 3619.11 sq mm = 67.85mm x1

Lets do the REAL math there.

Area of a 58mm diameter circle --> ~2642mm x 2 = 5284mm^2

now Area of a single 85mm tb --> 5674mm^2

Single 85 = 5674
Double 58 = 5284

Which means a single 85 has roughly 7.5% more area then a dual 58mm tb.

Maybe it wasn't discussed on here, but I remember reading the TB itself can become restrictive at high rpms and then that results in vacuum at WOT. I'll have to find that thread.

I am planning on using a MonoBlade but my car is going to be force inducted, so I think that it will be worth it.

I just put a single bore 90mm on my car (lt1 with single plane).

I agree you cant go too big for powers sake. The biggest drawback is tip in throttle. The TB is so large, when you first crack into the gas a little the car goes lean and hesitates VERY badly. Ive tried tuning with MAF tables, VE tables, making it idle richer hoping that would carry over etc, and its better than when i initally started from, but still very noticable. Just something to think about. Rated flow on mine is 135x cfm.

Why have a huge monoblade unless the intake ports and heads support it?

Well, like in my case, I am going to have fully ported AFR LT4 210's with a fully ported LT4 or maybe even a TPIS MiniRam II on a fully forged 357 LT1. All of this will be used for a force inducted motor running about 18 pounds of boost, so it will suit my needs good.
