Default Advanced Engine Building Questions

Just a few oppinion type or "what ya got" type ?'s

Im about to put my 355 together and just wonderd what kinda end gaps your running on your rings?

Also, how many guys with coated bearings out there?

And lastly, what seems to be the popular valvespring right now for 600+ lift hyd roller cams? Im tryin to find something with about 120# on the seat, and 330-340# open. the comp 930 is close, but im afraid with 383# at .650 that might be a lil much and start collapsing the lifter. thoughts?

Thanks in advance
Matt

1) *follow manufacturer guidelines
2)coated bearings, no, I don't use them
3)If you're running a cam w/ over .650 lift, I HIGHLY suggest going solid roller. As for running the proper springs, the cam maker is your best option. They make the cam, they have the springs for it. It's called "matched sets"
And a 383 with that much lift, you will need a super small base circle, custom pushrods, etc. You better really know your **** about building motors. (basically blueprinting)
Good luck

I didn't look at what springs that PN is but to run a fairly low level of pressure in the seat like you are looking for without destroying lifters I would suggest beehives and a rev kit.

The cam im running is a comp custom grind 236/245 .613/.608. reason i asked about up to .650 is ususally most mfg go to .600 as do the beehives. the reason im asking is it was in the car when i bought it, and seems like a good cam, but the valvesprings were inadequate which lead to failure 20 mi after i purchased the car...

its common if you had one of the first designs that were brwaking all the time... Thats why all the new ones have a blue stripe on them..so that you know it has been tested
