Default longtubes leak... how do i fix it?

My hooker LT's are leaking like crazy!!!! just wanted to see, if its possible, how to fix them..... they are leaking from the part where the LT bolts onto the Y pipe.... since my car is lowered, I hit them and now its leaking like crazy.... someone told me to put something called exhasut putty???? never heard of it....

My LT's are not the slip fit kind.....

Probably just going to have to have it welded, or cut and weld on new flanges.

I know your pain man. I got Jethot LT's with a ORY pipe and borla. And my pass side collector where it meets the y pipe (just like yours) has become REALLY loud over the past couple days. I was just going to buy new bolts/gaskets and redo it. If its bent i will bend the flange with a BFH. I am installing my H/C this weekend so i am just gonna fix it then. Good Luck, Dave.

man.. i feal ya there.. i was changing my O2 sensors the other day.. and took off the Y-pipe to access the pass. side one.. and one of my bolts broke off.. so i had an exhaust leak.. and i had to drill through the bolt to add a different bolt.. but that came lose due to shitty work from a tired 17 year old.. so now i got the sound of a leak, plus a lose bolt rattling around...

uh oh, i hope its bendable. If not i will be running open headers but i was thinking about swapping out my ORY pipe/Borlas for a Lanes True dual setup. but the borlas have gotten a million complements on how it sounds. I think after the H/C if it sounds REAL raspy i will def get the true dual setup. Spinning at 5krpms is loud, i bet 6k is even worse

Chop off the damn flanges and use the stainless steel clamps the big diesel trucks use. Thunder Racing has them for sale online.

lol that seems like alot of work and it would probally look terrible, let alone void the jet hot coating warranty.

And beating the crap out of them with a hammer won't? Look terrible? I'm sorry.. I do things firstly to be functionaly, then look nice if possible. Have ya ever seen the y-pipe from Hooker? Welp, they use the exact same stainless clamps I was just referring too. Ya wanna dollar so you can go buy a clue?

Word of advice, are they coated? If you cut off the flange they'll rust out in no time. My friend had his flange cut off (unbeknownst to him, he was VERY pissed), and all around the area and spreading up the headers it's starting to mildly flake off. Just a word of advice, oh and mine never sealed great, I just tightened them everytime I was changing the oil or doing ANYTHING on the car. Good luck.

Edit: Looks like someone already touched on the coating issue, disregard my previous comment.

The headers arent coated, and are rusted all over.... The Hooker Y never really sealed to begin with, Dont know why the LT1 LT's arent slip fit like the LS1's... unless mine are old skool.... Ever since I hit a big bump in the road, the hissing has been getting louder and louder... I have already tightened them, and put new gaskets and it did not work, so i'm going to try this and see what happens
