LME told me a set of 18 degree heads, ran on a old Nascar Bush series car, with not much porting done to them, they had bought used for $2000, they did a valve job on them, and flowed 400CFM.... Ill be getting 15 degree heads, with 2.20 intake valves!

I think one thing that would really help is valvetrain. There are plenty of guys dumping thousands into their top ends. At least from what I've seen online, it looks like half the hassle with going to a different valve angle is getting the valvetrain pieced together. If shops had 18-degree "packages" sort of like you can get a cam swap package, I would bet that there would be more people willing to try the swap.
Of course that still leaves headers, intake, carb / fuel injection out of the picture, but you get the idea...

even just 18 degree setup, sold as a package, I'd be All over that..
18 degree Ready to run SBC heads converted to LT1, Cam, offest solid roller Lifters, pushrods, and shaft rockers. If sold as a package, that could be a very popular setup, everyone would want it. and the LT1 would once again reign supreme!!!!!!! good idea trax! Too bad I dont have a buisness lol

You got 210 CCs out of a STOCK LT1 Head!? I thought I really hogged mine out, and only got 176 CCs.. When I do build this motor, I very well might put it in my 6 cylinder, It would tear me up to have two hot LT1s and only be able to use one at a time, and I would hate to start hacking up my already complete bracket car, If I just built say a 10.5W outlaw car out of my 6 cylinder, and I was to keep my Z28 the way it is, except swapped from my stock valve to a 2.02 stainless or something, would I see any HP improvement?

Here are my AFR210's that i had Lloyd Elliott port for me. Cost of heads, valvetrain and full port, less than $2000. i bought the heads "as cast" from AFR. This means no port work at all.

great numbers but like I said a 15 degree had has almost unlimimited flow potential, 400CFM isnt a crazy figure out of them. a 396 will never be able to fully utilize these heads unless it spins impossible RPMS,

Sounds like you guys are going to a lot of work to get fast, anybody interested in converting to N/A SB-2 heads? With the same changes as it will take to do all those other heads you can make 800+ HP/ 7500rpm and 550#TQ. That is what our ARCA engines make at 12:1 and 750 carb.
Jack up the cubes and compression and you should be pretty close to 900hp.
You need pistons, cam, lifters rockers and heads and intake of course. If you want to run FI gotta get a manifold and throttle body and FAST Cpu I guess.
I am a carb guy and can make them drive on the street and still make 850hp.
I have enough parts to really make some engines smoke...
I wanted to do my 94 z28 Cop car but I just got it back running after sitting in the shop for 4 years needing and opti-spark. It is bad when you can't even work on your own stuff.
As far as the 18* stuff goes, it is not the valve angle that makes the power it is the cylinder head port flow and fuel air quality. You can get 23* heads to make 800hp if you know what you are doing.
Those old junk Busch heads flowed at least 430cfm as that is what it took to make 725hp @ 9:1 CR & 390CFM Carb ( tiny ).
As far as big compression goes, if you want you can run 15:1 CR on E-85 and it only costs about $3.25 in Buford, GA. I run the stuff almost every day on my chassis dyno and it makes almost as much power as $25 Gallon VP ProStock fuel, cheapes power making gas is MS-109 and it costs about $12 gal.

btw these are no chumps, some really good builders here in town. They converted the set up to run the NASCAR HEADS. LOL, with a bigger cam and what not, car made more peak horsepower, and ran slower. But i hope your old NASCAR heads work out. Also you are aware that flow numbers dont mean everything...This coming out of the mouths of several very good engine builders
