Fuel pump Problem?

Default Fuel pump Problem?

Anyone have any problems with fuel pump or fuel delivery system? I am not throwing any codes, but it runs rough almost like it is missing. I am unsure as to what the problem is with no codes. I am gonna hook up the Tech2 and do some diagnostic checks.

I guess it could also be some bad gas. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hey man just a shot, but it could be an opti, mine acted up alil' like missing and then a little later it went out. i'm on my fifth one in a year and half. and it didn't through any codes till it went. Thats all I can think of, haven't had any problems w/fuel system at all w/95k miles, and I race alot, track and high speed. good luck

Id trade a dead opti for a dead fuel pump any day

I can change an optispark in about an hour, dropping the rear end and tank is a little more involved.

Yeah I guess your right. I have a new opti sitting in the garage I guess I will give it a shot. Never changed it before, so it will probably take me longer. I have seen there are plenty of posts on how to change one though.

Its pretty simple. Remove fans. To remove them unplug the connections, lift out outta the clips. Drain the rad. Pull all the hoses off the waterpump. Take the 6 bolts off it. Pull it off. Undo the connections for the opti. Undo the 3 bolts on it. Take off the crank pully ( 3 bolts ) Pull the opti off. Put new one on, make sure to orient the dowel pin to the right spot. Put everyhing back on, fill with coolant. Pretty simple.

Now it won't even start. I haven't change the opti yet, I pulled a plug wire and still have spark, but it won't turnover. So now I have to trailer it back to my parents house to change the opti, but I think there may be more to it. Going to check fuel pressure next. There are still no fault codes.

Anyone got any other ideas?

The Fuel Pump is dead, it did not turn on. No pressure when using the fuel pressure gauge.

It is actualy almost as common for the fuel pump to go out as the opti. My car is sitting at Two Opti's and two fuel pump's with only 56,000 on it

Wifes car is ,as far as we know ,two opti's one fuel pump. I probably replace as many fuel pumps as I do opti's

You can cut an access hatch above the fuel pump to get to it 10x easier. Plus if it ever fails again, you remove the cover that you made and BAM right there. I replaced my fuel pump in no more than 2hrs including cutting the access hatch.

And in this state it will marry you to the car forever! IF any thing EVER happens to the car and they find that the door you cut in the car contributed in ANY way to damages "YOU" are liable
