Questions.......

1. How many miles on it?
2. What is your current 1/4 mile e.t.?
3. Auto or Manual?

A good clutch or stall depedning upon if your manual or auto will help tremendously as well as a sticky tire. By full exhaust i take it you already have headers? Next mod should be a nice cam but thats kinda costly, depends upon how much your looking at spending.

For gears I'd go with the Gm motive 4.10's. For a camshaft it really depends on how much power you want and are you willing to give up drivability. Most cams with a tune are still relatively streetable though.

If your on a tight budget, then I recommend, geting a pcm tune, and a set of drag radials.

I got my tuning through madz28.com.

A cam swap can get expensive, once you include all the goodies you will need to get it to work CORRECTLY, and actually get that new found power TO THE GROUND.

I would get 4.10 gears...pcm tune, drag radials, subframe connectors, shocks + springs, relocation brackets, adjustable panhard rod, lower control arms etc....to put some power to the ground and make it more fun to drive around....also a short throw shifter would be a good mod. Another one would be an aluminum driveshaft. Maybe redo all the bushings in the car with polyurethane since it does have 140K on it. As far as a cam goes...if you bought a used cam, springs, retainers, pushrods and then a timing set, gasket set you would have at least 400 into it. Plus a tune and then your going to still need everything mentioned above. If it were my car I would do all the free mods to the car, lighten it up a bit...(see the sticky in the drag racing section for weight loss ideas).....get gears, drag radials, and whatever suspension you can afford. This will give you a good base to start from and if you ever do get a cam then you don't have to pay for another tune. just my 0.02

Looks like your going to be drivin for a f-body shop. Might want to call around your local area, or the nearest city from nashville. I do know of some shops in NC, thats about it.

Your kinda starting out how I did, only I did have less mileage(64,000), course now I've got 8,000 more miles on the car then you and yours is an older car. LOL!

I started out with gears for my first mod, went from 2.73's to 3.42's, seemed to pep the car up a bit, my car is a auto, I didn't get to the track for some stock times unfortuantly. Then I got sub-frames, strut tower brace, and lower control arms. Car was really stiff after those were installed I could tell a big difference. Got some ployuthane bushings to. I started out at the track after I got those on the car, and was running 14's, I was also learning to drive the car as well. Then I went elec. water pump, NGK TR55 plugs, MSD 8.5 wires, and the car ran much better with those. New opti-crap as well, they suck, also got the car tuned at CAM and that helped a lot, biggest difference was the Yank 3000 stall i put in along with a tranny cooler, you need drag radials on the back of that thing. Best so far of 13.60 @ 102 mph. A lot better then those 14.70's I was running stock.

Cam and heads are next in line for me, only thing I can do now is spray, or go 3.73's, and well I'd rather get heads and cam. I'm going to have to pull the engine and have it machined. 148,000 miles and counting.....hehehhe she runs good though but street tires that car just wastes them....LOL!

You are going to have fun modding the car, and I know your money is limited, and I was doing those mods through college. College students are broke all the time.
