Default How to clamp down y pipe into collector...

Everywhere I go people are calling me a dipshit and giving me smart *** answers because I don't know this answer, I have never done this before. Me and my dad will be putting my headers on in May, and I need to know what I clamp down the y pipe into the 3" collector with. I know it has the triangle flange, so I don't see how a band clamp would work.

Um not sure I follow you, what kind of headers? What kind of y-pipe? Do you mean were you connect the headers up to the y-pipe or where the y-pipe connects to the rest of the exhaust?

Both. I'm asking what do I use to clamp the y pipe into the long tube header collector, and if I use a band clamp to clamp down the y pipe into the I pipe, or have that welded. I was told welding the y pipe into the collectors is stupid, so I'm not gonna do that.

Pretty much I'm asking what/how do I clamp down the y pipe into the collector, and if I should use a band clamp for where the y and i pipe meet, or if I should weld it.

um well, depending on were you got your headers and y-pipe from I would imagine they come with clamps. You slip the y-pipe and headers together and you use a clamp that looks like the letter U, just do a search under summit racing,

You can also use the same clamp for the I pipe, but some people get that welded so it dosen't leak

Jet hots have a flange, I'm asking if there is a BETTER way to do this. I'm asking what is better to do, clamp where the i and y meet, or weld it, and use the nuts/bolts Jet Hot gave me for THEIR y pipe. I know how to connect them.

I am getting the Jet hot y pipe which has the flanges as well, I have the bolts for it, but i was wondering if there is another alternative because it seems they will come loose..

That pic is exactly what I'll need...it has the flanges that go on the Jet Hot LT's. There is a gasket that seals between them. I'm wondering if there is a better way to clamp these together. And I was also wondering if I should use a band clamp where the I pipe and Y pipe meet, or if I should have that welded.

To make removal easier, I would use a bandclamp from the y-pipe to the I-pipe. Then just use the flanges that are already on there to seal them up to the collectors on the longtubes.

I've got pacesetter so I'm all slip fit. it sucks.

Remember that 3" stainless bandclamp I gave you? Use that on the ypipe-Ipipe.

Just use the bolts that jet hot gves you on the triangle flanges. It is a proven design. You can use the gaskets that they include, or get some soft aluminum/copper ones from your favorite speed shop. (try thunder/summit/jegs/etc....onre of the site sponsors preferrably.)

Feel free to ask me any questions as allways man.......

I went with Pacesetters on this car instead of the Jethots I had on my old one, the only thing I don't like on the Pacesetters is the slip fit style ends.....at least its not a primary tube like the Jet-Hots
