The old owner of my car ran a 13.8@100MPH, with just a catback (shitty flowmaster 80s).
These cars have a tendancy to be between 13.9 and 14.1, on average, with trap speeds ranging from 101 MPH to 97 MPH. That's the average that I've seen.
Add gears, exhaust and a CAI and you'll be mid 13's easy. Add a stall and tune and you'll knock on 12's door. These are fast cars, start modding and you'll be impressed.
Actually the first thing I'd recommend after a catback and CAI, would be a stall and a tranny cooler (mandatory with an aftermarket stall).

I always like a 3.73 in auto cars. Totally wakens them up even on a stock stall. I was goin 13.6 all day long with a CAI and a gear and stock everything else still!

The cost of a stall depends on the quality of the stall you want. At the high end you have a Yank or Vig. that will cost about $700. On the low end I have seen people use an S10 stall which is only about $200. It will cost a few hundred $$$ for the install.
When my car had only a Magnaflow muffler it ran 14.19 @ 96

i live in southern california. i usually go to irwindale but thats a 1/8 mile track, and i ask because i am close to buying a 96 lt1 trans-am. i have new unopened parts that my bro had left over after his 96 trans-am was wrecked. i drove it once. i have a moroso cold air kit, slp ''loudmouth'' catback, and a hypertech power programmer. he sold it all this to me for 350 bucks so it was a hell of a deal. i have the parts but no lt1. i'm hoping with 3.73 gears i can hit consistent 13.7's maybe? what do u think?

with a cold air, catback, hpp, and 3.42s...i was running 14.0-14.3, which is about .5 or so faster than most stock LT1s around here.
so with those mods, you could figure yourself to at least half a second faster than stock LT1s. maybe that info will be easier to give u an idea of what your car would run at your local track, instead of just giving an ET.

Only the SS/WS6 models came with 17X9 rims. TAs, V6 Firebirds, Z28s and V6 camaros got 16X8s (the "saw blade" or "salad shooter" style as they are often called for the 96s and the "Five star" rims for the 97-98s)
