Default Nitrous limits

How much nitrous can a stock bottm end lt1 take? I'm planning on getting a kit don't know which one yet but I want to know how much I can safely use.

been spraying a 150 wet shot on mine for quite some time with no problems. if you were to go that high make sure u invest in a new fuel pump. anything higher would be engine suicide.

I'd agree that 150 is about the limit....anything more than that with any regularity and you're asking for your ringlands to give out.

You should be able to spray 150.

The limit is usually more the heads and cams ability to move that much exhaust, some guys spray 200+ on top of heads and cam but most people do not have a setup that will support that and will not go any faster after about a 150-175 shot. People don't give the stock engine as a whole enough credit.

150 wet is as much as you wanna go unless you just really want a good reason to build a stroker.

So 150 seems to be good what can I do to make sure I don't have a mishap with the nitrous? The car is my d/d so I don't want to blow it up.

invest in a window switch first off, and it wouldnt hurt to make sure all fuel components are working at their best, or even better buy aftermarket upgrades. Make sure you have a well flowing fuel filter, good fuel pump, good injectors, good MAF if you are going to run a dry kit, and definately use the full throttle activation switch.

and it wouldnt hurt to start off with the small jets like a 75 and work your way up.

Fuel pressure safety switch, window switch, WOT switch, colder plugs, etc....everything you can to be on safe side.

yeah definetly start smaller and work up to it...My tnt 100 would put the car sideways on a 50 degree day at 80mph with 315s out back so it can catch you by surprise..Also get a bottle warmer otherwise there is no point in spraying it.

u can go 150 with out doing a things really ... pump gas with some plugs and ur fine...with a 175 u should pull alittle timeing out and run a mix of race/ pump gas.... i have a 200 on my car now... and i run colder plugs and usually mostly all race gas(110) when i run it at the track...the motor is 100% stock .. i have a hooker long tube headers and svo #30 injectors....the best to date is 11.27 at 119.8 with only 700psi bottle pressure... next time i go to the track hopefully next week im hoping to go 10's which i think it easily should...

Not a hack but what CFM requirements and/or exhaust lift and duration on the exhaust side do you think is necessary for something bigger than a 175?

damn, i forgot about the plugs...run NGK TR6s (stock no. 4177), and also, like 97M6Formula said, get a bottle heater, or go the cheap way and rig one up using a heating pad, ac/dc power inverter, and some thick rubber bands, lol!

i woudl disagree on the tr6 plugs... once u go higher than a 150 they blow so fast its not funny..... i woudl go with a R42LTS its an ac delco plug thats what i run and a few other lt1 nitrous guys i know
