Default Thinking about selling the Bad Boy 398 LT1 ~1200RWHP+

So I'm thinking about selling the motor. It will totally be refreshened up, complete from intake to pan, reassembled and ready to bolt in. The motor currently has about 30 runs on it, 10-12 1/4 runs, the rest 1/8. THe motor has gone a best of 8.08 @ 174 mph 1/4. 5.22 @ 141 1/8. Here's a short run down on the motor:

Cola 3.875" forged crank
Eagle 5.85" H-beam rods w/ ARP 2000 bolts
Custom Coated Weisco -30cc dish pistons 4.040 bore (2 new spares)
Hell fire rings,Custom pins, Polydyne Coated Race Bearings
Block is half-filled w/ grout, Oil galleys drilled larger to accomodate more oil
Program engineering 4 bolt splayed main caps (front and middle three)
Morosso Race Blueprinted oil pump, Canton Pickup, Canton drag race oil pan
Dyna Gear Belt Drive, Fluidampnr 6 1/4" Harmonic Balancer
AFR 215 RR LT4 heads ported by Self Racing Flow 338/245 @ 600
Jesel 1.7 Pro Series Shaft Rockers, comp 946 triple springs, titanium retainers
Manton Bros Pushrods, Ferrea 2.100/1.62 valves
Del West Copper Berrylium seats
Comp Cams camshaft- Grind will be released to buyer
Dart RR Intake, Dart Valve Covers
Motor Plate and fittings and SS lines will also come with the motor.

I'm also throwing in the PTK Turbo headers for an extra $500.

Taking offers, looking @ $12K for the setup, I've got about $16K tied up in it. Serious Inquirys only.

Damn, sellin the motor? I thought you and HPE were gonna try and pull more out of it to surpass the current LS1 record? New setup going in I'm guessing?

I am about ready to rebuild my TA's engine and a turbo or supercharged stroked LT1/4 was a strong possibility, but my only concern with rebuilding the LTx is the fact that not many people are using those engines any more, or they are selling them (kind of an obsolescence thing?). Why are you selling? What is the compression, is this too radical of a setup for pump gas mainly street driving?

Its a bad *** deal, but I under stand his reasons for leaving the LT1 mill, you'll see a lot of the LS1 guys eventually do the same for the exact same reasons. How ever for some one looking for the basis to building a bad *** LT1 car, this a deal of a life time.

Ricks not going to an LS1, theres a lot more potential in using a SBC based motor if you want to play with the 10.5 tire cars. Any case, the motor is here and a set up like Ricks wouldnt be hard as many think to duplicate if some one was so inclined to build such a car.

It's up in the air right now what I'm going to do but the money to race the local stuff is too much to pass up. Don't get me wrong the LT1 is very very cometitive and puts down the ET's for 1/8 racing, I'm just looking for an extra 500 HP to run in ORSCA Limited Street also. I need 2000 HP to run in ORSCA.

Compression is 8:1 It will run on pump gas, tuning is what is going to determine fuel requirements. Also everything is ARP, Cometic Head Gaskets.

Don't give up hope, If the motor doesn't sell then I'll probably still run it

LOL, funny. One thing I'm for sure planning on doing is trying to find some weight to take out of the car. I'm on a strict diet now and the car needs one too, she weighs in at a hefty 3380.

That car is so sick. I can't imagine what she'll run on higher boost, a more aggressive tune, and a few hundred pounds off. We're all pullin for you here man!
