Default 383 LT1 w/ msd blaster... having ignition problems!

It's the weirdest thing, i'll start my car and drive all over the place, i mean trips and to work and back....and then out of the blue...it shuts off, just the engine, nothing else, and it won't start back up for nothing. so I unplug my MSD 6al, and hook up the stock harness to the blaster and it fires right up. So again i'm driving, and I hop on it really hard, and I push the clutch in to start slowing down....pshhh...the motor shuts down....and won't start back up....this is with the stock harness and msd blaster. so i say hell with it, cuz this has happened about 5 times, and it eventually will start up after a few minutes but now it won't. So I wait about 45 mins go back.....boom fires right up....drives fine for the rest of the day....but I'm just waiting for the next trip out in the boonys and pshhh, and i'm stranded....what the hells going on!!! Ground, control module, msd going bad??? opti

I had the same problem on my LT1. At first my MSD 6AL box went out. Then I unplugged it and ran my stock ignition with the MSD Blaster coil. Two months later, the blaster coil went out. In my opinion, MSD has some serious reliability issues. Since then, I have been running a stock coil and a Mallory ignition box with absolutely zero compliants.

I would just get rid of the 6AL box, and run their coil...I've heard mixed reviews about that box cookin' the coils for some reason..

93's have bad opti's (no vaccum) I would be curious to know if you have a coolant leak or if you live in a high humidiy area.... could be shorting out...

It doesn't sound like the opti' but they can do some weird stuff when going out..

Yeah, i CONVERTED to the 95 opti's when I did the first engine pull, maybe i'll just the vac and air lines to the opti, and replace the blaster with something else....just to mention I havn't had any problems since....but i did rev to 7000 rpms...i forget the msd soft touch rev limiter wasn't pluged in....pray to the opti gods.

MSD coils have been known to haver serious issues from time to time. Most of my friends always keep a stocker near by and then when the MSD fails they just send it back in for a new one

Welp, she died again on me...and this time it wouldn't start for nothin. I changed coils, but neither was giving any spark to the opti....so i'm guessing that the opti isn't giving the computer any signal...wow what a surprise!!@@##$ but....3 days later and I go turn it over just to see...and walla!, we have spark!?!? What the hell should I do???
