Question- I have Long Tubes, Off Road Y, and an open cutout but the sound is raspy especially with my A4 and 3.73 and shift kit, right before it changes gears it's really loud for a second then stops I don't like it it's to random. What can I get to make it sound loud and deep throughout the RPM range????

Magnaflow and 2OTL are pretty loud and deep.

First off, Mac's aren't longtube headers...They're mid-lengths. Just had to correct that..

Secondly, your LS1 sounds incredibly raspy because you're running an offroad Y-pipe (no cats) through an open cutout. Talk about rasp city!

If you want to get rid of that nasty sound, either put some highflow cats back on the car (I'd also recommend a good cat-back system like the Hooker or GMMG instead of using the cutout). OR, keep the car catless and run an X-pipe true dual system. Either way though, you won't have any rasp and the car will sound 100x better.

Damn, didn't even catch that about the Macs.

But the isn't an LS1, it's an LT1.

If you're talking about that guy's white Camaro above, it's an LS1 man...He posted pics of that same car in the "Appearance" section of this board that showed so (I believe it's a '98). Besides, look at his username: Ell Ess Won = LS1

...

Then why is he even posting here? This is the LT1 forum, and the two motors sound totally different.

My uncle's 94 Z has the my old american thunder ls1 flowmaster catback on it, and a 2.5" offroad y with the flowmaster y collector. It sounds good but on moderate acceleration, it has annoying popping sound, and it has the normal pops under deceleration. I have no clue what the popping during acceleration is. The muffler guy pulled it up on the lift and couldn't find any rattles anywhere. Is this just the rasp associated with this type of setup? I know this is off topic, but I am trying to get him to run true duals with single chamber flowmasters like what is on my ls1. How do they sound on lt1s? I i've only heard one clip, and it was of a car that was revving, nothing going down the road through various rpms.

I'm looking at the TSP Rumbler as an option at the moment, but it's not on the list...

I've searched around a bit, and hell if I can find anyone running it on an Lt1 (thats reviewed, or put a vid/sound clip up)...

Who knows bro?! Lots of newbies post in places they shouldn't. But I personally see nothing wrong with it as long as he clarifies in his post that his motor is an LS1...

And yeah, he posted a ton of pics of his ride in the Appearance & Detailing section that shows it has a '98+ front end. Also has the tri-color taillights.

Regardless, he hasn't posted back so I think he knows he was in the wrong forum...

Yeah, in his sig it looked like her had the full red earlier LT1 style taillights, I'm guessing he's got some blackouts on there or somethin.

My Borla sounds like it is a 60s muscle car with a 427 in it. Sometimes i turn down my music and roll down my window just to listen to it. It definately turns heads

ok i had 2otl on my 97, it sounded "meh" , then i upgraded to LM, and its hot, i hear that gmmg is good, but dont go mangaflow, whatever you do, its the biggest rip. My friend just did slp shorties, no cat, can the full stainless magnaflow cat back and my car still sounds better than his. I stand by loudmouth and i say if you want a manly sound get that. borla is expensive, gmmg is expensive, for the money you cant beat the deal. stealthperf.com sells loudmouth with no sales tax.

im also willing to bet that my car with loudmouth and no headers, is louder than any borla car with no headers. but not only louder, throaty-er and bassy-er

ill do sound clips if anyone wants.

I have a Hooker Cat-Back with "!CATS" Have straight pipes in the place of the two cats on my 97' Z28. I dont have any rasp really sounds AWESOME all the way through the RPM Range only on some occasains will pop on decel from WOT at a high rpm only. I also have a 3" Flowtech Cut-Out and when you open that damn its just plain mean and loud and it always makes people turn their heads but the rasp is horrible LOL My vote would be Hooker or GMMG

GMMG hands down. I love rolling down the windows and just listening to the car. Lots of people can tell its me coming because it has such a distinct sound to it. A friend of mine has flows with no cats and mine is just a little quieter, (not much) but still sounds **** tons better.

You talk like you're an expert exhaust sound analyst

It's all opinion, which is why we've got this poll going. I will never own an LM car.
