just thought I'd post a few pics of the bracket I made to relocate your alternator down low so you can use tall valve covers....my buddy did the same and wow does tall covers and no alternator make our motor look SO much better...let me know if your interested or what you think...I could do some work for you.

I'll post some photo of the trans am we just finished.

I assume you're talking about that little piece that is connecting to the bottom part of the alternator in the pics... what belt would this need (there's no ac on that car, right)?

Why not make a set up that does not retain the factory bracket?
Will begin working on that myself and let you know how it goes....got one car already locally that is running it that way, still has PS, but no A/C...........

If someone could make up a bracket that relocated the alternator low, maybe passenger side, and still retained the ac. And no pulley where the alternator went. Id pay half decent money for one.

Edit: Is that a peice of an oil pan side rail ( the peice that bolts up to the oil pan ) that is holding the bottom of the alternator on

The set up I mentioned earler put the alt where the A/C compressor was but had to go to a 3rd gen alternator b/c the size of the 4th gen is too big.

I really think it would be possible to run it on the driver side low if you can keep the rotation going correctly and get enough belt travel. Some of the problem is probably the belt tensionor. I would like to see that removed or displaced to another location.

To locate the alt on the other car mentioned he used hiem joints (rod ends) to get this done, like March does on some of their kits.

Maybe I can come up with something over the summer....

Ya, i have seen that setup. I want to retain my a/c. I Think it would be possible to do on the passenger side. Make a mount that bolts to where the air pump mounted. I have tons of room on that side with that trash out of the way.

Yeah, Jon just cut a hole basically and it didn't hold up under load. They cracked as soon as you got on it. W/ the bracket in this one it may do better. I bought the other version Jon made that went to the driver side and haven't had a problem since and that was almost 2 yrs ago.

Holy necromancy!

I suppose since you mentioned "custom" that me recommending you using the ones that came off the truck is out of the question?

Why not just run stock GEN I stuff since there's tons of aftermarket bracketry? All you have to make sure about is the crank hub stuff so it lines up with the rest.

I have that, just running a belt between the alt and crank pulley. No ps or air
