Default Blew up the rear, what to do??

I plan on upgrading the differential to the clutchless style, i guess the zexel torsen?? but i was wondering if anyone makes upgraded 10 bolt axles. I really dont wanna spend the money on a 12 bolt or 9", when I wont be throwing down that much power to the ground anytime in the near future. i have a 3 channel abs rear btw, so if i go 12 bolt or 9", i wont have ABS correct?? does it have to be tuned for this, or does the ABS INOP light just stay on??

suggestions anyone??

you can retain ABS with a 12 bolt.

New diff $400
axles $300
gear set $200
Install set $100
stud Girdle$140
Misc fluid ect $50
average install $350

And what do you get? The same week 7.65" ring gear and a big dent in your bank account.

Tack on another few hundred and you can get a 12 bolt and install it yourself and never have to worry about it again.

very good point.

The only thing is I am getting the posi used for about $100, with labor going to be around 200 or so.

Still sound like a bad idea?

Just think of it as borrowed time. It will do the trick for now, but dont expect it to last.

what about running a 8.8" rear end. not sure what to pay for it, so someone give me suggestions on an acceptable price for one. the shop doing the work has an 8.8 ready to fit in an f-body.

wish i could afford it. gonna see what all is wrong with it first, and go from there, if its just a jacked up posi, i will swap in that used zexel torsen, and be done with it. otherwise, may just add some moser axles and go with a 3.73 gear set.

An Ford 8.8" will run you about the same price of a 12-bolt, not worth it at all.

8.8 is marginally better in stock form but yes when they are both built up its around the same price.

no matter what you do. You could spend 10 grand on a 10 bolt. But you still have the same problem. The 7.65" ring gear. It's the week point and there is NOTHING you can do about it.
