Either the tranny or the torque arm mount.

Take a look at both mounts from under the car and replace the worn part, they are not necessarily both worn.

Sounds to be a tranny mount. I broke a couple of them, dont just by a replacement. Make sure you get the Polyurthane(spelling), i beleive Energy Suspension makes them. You can find them at Autozone, salvo's etc, or any performance shops.

99.9% sure its a tranny mount. same thing happened to me a while ago. a loud jerking noise kept coming from under the center consel when i gassed it or didnt drive like a granny. relativly inexpensive to fix, even at a dealer.

Well your going to need some working room, i suggest gettin agood mechanic. ITs ont that hard to do, if you lift the car 6ft in the air, the mounts are very very noticable. ONe is from the tranny to the car, the other is the torque arm end closest to the tranny.

I had a 1993 Z28 before I bought my Corvette and the tranny mount went bad on two occasions. I had the same symptoms you are experiencing. It's not a tough job to handle yourself if you have some jackstands. You can buy the poly version of the mount for $15 to $20 and do it yourself, or pay $150 to $200 for a shop. I had a shop do it the first time mine broke and paid $211 . I did it myself the second time around for $15 . Chilton's/Haynes manuals can help you with the details of the labor. These books are available at just about any auto parts store.

Definately not necasarry to be 6ft off the ground unless you need to stand under there which you dont. I usually just jack the left side in the air, go underneith and take another jack and jack up to the tranny to hold it. Take the bracket that goes across the tranny off and replace the mount. Pretty easy.

A tranny mount is simple as hell to put in. 6ft. is not necessary.

Just put the front of the car on jackstands, put a piece of wood across the jack to spread the load, and jack up the tranny from the tranny pan just enough to remove the weight load on it. Then undo the 1 bolt on the mount, and the 2 that hold the cross member. Unbolt the mount, and reverse for install of new. Piece of cake
