Please help me choose a converter...
...for my LT1 car.
I have a 1996 Formula, stock cam, heads, etc... Only REAL mods are CAI and full exhaust with 1.6 rockers and 3.42 gears. I also have a nitrous kit, currenly jetted for 100 HP.
I'll be installing a freshly beefed up transmission when I install the converter.
I'm thinking a 3000 RPM stall with a 2.0-2.5 STR will put me where I want to be.
The car is a daily driver with occasional track use.
I'm torn between three brands: Fuddle, Edge, or Precision Industries.
If I go with Fuddle, it'll probably be the High-Performance Street converter.
If I go with Edge, it'll be the Street Edge
And if I go with PI, it'll be a Vigilante.
I'd like to know which of these you'd go with and why, please.

I put a vig 2800 in my 96z and swapped in some 3.42 gears.Very streetable and you barely know the converter is in there in daily around town driving .It feels very tight ,didn't even put a shift kit in there. I think maybe should have gone up to a 3000,a 3200 vig might be more noticeable and think a 3400 or so might be more for a track oriented car. They say the vig stall a bit higher than rating and as add more mods to mine think it will go up in stall too with planned heads, cam and headers and spray.
A buddy of mine is going the bolt on route and he is putting a Vig 3000 stall in it with the TH350 he is bolting in.
I would consider a 3000 stall for the bolt on cars, 3200 would be the max.

I dropped .8 with my 2800 Edge in the Caprice, and that included switching DOWN from 93 octane tuning to 87 octane. Part of that though is I had a mild ZZ3 cam if not for that I don't think I would have dropped so much.
I love my Edge but if I had to go with another company I would go to Yank before Vig it will be more custom with a better shot at being a perfect match. Vig is good but over the last year or so on the b-body boards it is becoming more apparent they are very off the shelf. If wanting to spend that much coin go with the custom Yank.

I run a TCI super streetfighter 3200 lock up and I am really happy about the way it feels. I would recommend the TCI...the price is not bad and the quality is high. As someone else already stated, I would suggest going with 3200 as the max unless you are deciding to modify it more heavily. Goodluck with whichever you choose.

Really my cammed, stalled(2800) geared(3.42 from 2.93) Caprice gets the same milage as my stock Roadmaster wagon, granted the wagon is heavier but mechanically before mods there were the same. Aren't injection, lockup, and OD wonderful.
anything over 3200ish with a bolt on car is overkill. ( I know I had a 4000 in my bone stock Z) the car felt good in first but fell on its face 2nd and on. I went big because I had the tranny out and knew I was modding down the road.
